I'm going to guess [and please tell me if I'm wrong] that you're referring to what I wrote in your other thread. People we see that do that are show dogs. I don't know an owner who does it otherwise except maybe to impress their guests or get a good picture which I have been guilty of doing.
Again depending on the type of coat, doing this may not produce great results anyway. I do it to dog 1, and it does create more matts ...with very little change in her appearance (pointless to do). I do it to dog 2 of mine, and I don't get any matts (he just doesn't tangle and is very low maintenance when it comes to that) ...but his hair on his head gets lots of volume. So no... you just have to learn to line groom to get all the matts out properly. |
yes - it is the backcombing/teasing that you do for humans.
However, it's not done as routine grooming. Just mainly for going into the show ring. And then all combed out right after you are done in the ring. I forgot once - that was all it took to never forget again! This is what Chewie looks (looked) like ready to go in the ring after I trimmed him down and now he's somewhere in the middle - back in pigtails (or devil horns ) Guess I need to upload some current pictures |
You guys are the best thank you so much that makes much better sense now |
