What is your favourite trait of your OES?

I love the way Holly will happily allow me to give her a big cuddle at any time, shes like a big teddy bear :)

One trait? Hmmm....I love everything about the breed! Let's see....I love the way they sort of waddle when they walk - sideways like...the way they tilt their furry heads when I make a funny noise...the way they love to be around me..and of course, the way the entire butt wiggles when they're excited
Of Course there can't be just one............................It is all of them !! :yay: that we love.
Intellegents, they seem to know what you want before saying it........Mom asks for a kiss, she's right there, time for bed, Molly is off to get her place in bed before I do. The simple let's go, and she's at the door.
How about the way they glide when they run, and have you ever seen anything prettier? How about when they make a mistake........they know, they're sorry, and they feel bad.
Hell they're more human than some people, that's what I love !!!
Their sensitivity & perceptiveness: how adept they are at reading people and how in tune they are to their people.

Their ability to make you laugh is just an added bonus

Kristine
That big, goofy, always happy face. and the wiggle-butt bounce :hearts:

and................the way he knows when I'm blue and just comes over and lays his head in my lap. My very best friend.
Where to begin.....Violet's pure joy when she knows we're going for a ride in the car. Her alarm (sheepie bark) alerting us to anyone coming within a hundred miles of our house. The wigglebum, headcock, the joy and excitement she shows when her food is put out. (even though she doesn't have very good manners) Violet's sweet, clownish personality. How she sweetly comes up to me to get a cuddle. Violet is very smart and has a great personality and brings joy to my life every day.
I love lots of things, but my favorite has to be how much they honestly just love us :D :D
Having a breed of dog that so loves to be with their human and do whatever you are doing is the best!
On a personality basis I would say their empathy with humans. My Max spent nearly 6 weeks bedside when I had pneumonia, Marley who loves to jump on peole will meet an elderly person or a child and sit quietly for a pet or attention (after you see her size them up). And Morgan - well what can I say, he is an old soul.

From a performance standpoint I would have to say it's their ability to overccome my shortcomings and still come out looking like we know what they are doing on the agility field, the rally course or in the sheep fields.
ALL OF THE ABOVE and...of course those tender Sheepie KISSES! :hearts:
Tender sheepie kisses? I get licked attacked! But I LOVE it! I say I don't need make up remover. My dogs do it for me!
Bogart will sit in front of me (read: in my way) and stretch out his neck for a hug.

I will hug him.

He will do a short circle and sit in front of me again as to say: "Hey, I just had an idea, how about a hug?" This will go on for as long as I will let it.

The best thing about my sheepie is unconditional love.
The big sloppy kisses when you least expect it. :D
I have to re-enforce what everyone else is saying:

that wiggle butt brings a smile to my face every time I see it. And my Luna, with her poorly docked little bunny tail? Seeing that wiggle back and forth is just plain adorable.

Watching them run in full (or close to) coat has to be the most glorious thing to see!

And that sensitivity people are talking about. My BF can be a very moody guy; he gets down a lot. The girls always know when to cuddle him and make him smile. And since I've been sick, one or the other has always been with me. When I need to go lie down, they are there next to me within moments. Rush to the bathroom? They are waiting at the door when I come out, to make sure I'm okay. Even just sitting at the computer, they take turns sitting with me, or they both sit here.

I think what I love best is just how well they love us in return. Never have I had a more attentive, caring, compassionate and loving companion (no offense, BF ).
My favourite thing about Ru is when he's panting, if you look at him, he stops & his tongue goes back in his mouth. You look away, he pants again...You look at him, he stops... no matter how quick I do it he keeps up with me. It cracks me up. He's just so funny! And whenever he makes me laugh he wags his tail & comes over & kisses me, like making me laugh makes him really happy :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
Aww, thank you for all your responses, how lovely. All of these posts are so true, Holly has the same little traits and I know I will never tire of them.

One thing that amazes me is how quickly they learn things, we have now taught Holly what 'Mummy' and 'Daddy' are, if we say 'wheres your..........then pause she looks right at me, stops panting waiting for me to say the word, then say Daddy and she rushes over to my husband wagging her tail, puts a smile on my face everytime :D
I find it very endearing that Heart cannot pass any type of paper products without ripping it to shreds!!!
The funny thing is...she NEVER touches any of HER things. When Pearl won 1st place in Rally and received a very beautiful huge Blue ribbon, Heart found it too tasty to pass up...

Same goes for the lovely Christmas cards that one of the patients gave both Pearl and Heart...She munched on PEARLS card...but left her's alone!!!! HOW THE HECK DOES SHE KNOW??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

All kidding aside....I have such fun with both my sheepie!!! They sure can bring a smile to my face and make me feel happy!!!!!

I did that! I taught them "where's Adam; find Adam!" and if we are in the house they go racing to find them; if we are in the yard, they race into the house to find him. A good substitute for "go inside" sometimes. Adam of course is still working on "find Allison".
Yep, we did that too! Sometimes we play hide and seek, so Inca picked up 'go find' pretty quick, and we use 'go to' in the park, which works better than recall at times!

Its funny when I read about typical sheepie traits - often Inca doesn't fit them at all.. she's certainly not velcro (spent the majority of the last 4 hours in the kitchen whilst I am in the lounge  and only came to 'visit' me a couple of times) and empathy isn't her strong point either. I'm sure she loves me really :?
All of the above and first thing in the morning. Patch comes in very happy it is morning. She gives me a wet-nosed nudge and a bark to get up to start the day. And that butt of hers, it is so darn cute, she has the biggest and best butt in the land! I had a cold this week and feel just terrible in the morning, but her wet-nose just makes it so much more tolerable.
I'm in my 50's and this is my first dog (in at the deep end springs to mind) - are all dogs not like these? I suspect I might get told "definitely not"!

(I wish I'd done this years ago! It's hard, hard work, but well worth every moment - we love him to bits)

Nik :)
What I love is when he gets up on the couch and tries to make himself small like the other two and manages to sit on one cushion. This is a totally amazing feat and funny to watch and he is so proud of himself. He talks like crazy and bounces everywhere and gets pushed around by a redheaded Corgi girl...lol. So blessed to have him and the rest of our crew.
Oh so many! One: they make me laugh. I was up before 4 a.m. today to make a giant bread pudding. Jack came out after I got started and sat upright with the "What you doing up this early look?" Back straight, ears erect, head tilted...just made me laugh. Told him to "Go back to bed" which he promptly did.

When DH got up several hours later, Jack came running out, barking, "OK, let's start the day, everyone is up."
The unbelievable soulfulness of their beautiful eyes when they look at you with absolute love and devotion. And the way Sammy pulled her lips back to smile at me when I greeted her. :hearts:
