He'll carry a stuffed animal around for awhile drop it in a private place in the yard and want to come in. Then the next time he goes out the cycle starts all over again. Is it some kind of instinct? Thanks Lisa and Frankie |

when you find out the answer...PLEASE let me know!!!!
Heart is always trying to take 'baby' outside. I grab it right before she runs out, saying,,,""NONO Heart this is an INSIDE toy!!"" Like she understands..... |
Half the toys are outside frozen in the snow
Last night I found my jeans sitting outside he dragged them through the dog door. Langley has taught me to put away my stuff |
Yeah, let me know too. Last night I watched Isaac grab a stuffed sheep on his way thru the grooming room & outside. He tossed it in the air once. Grabbed it again & proceeded to take it outside into the snowcovered dog run & toss it in the air several more times. This might not seem so "out of charachter" but we are talking about a dog that is going to be 12 years old on April 1st! . But what I REALLY want to know is.............how do you get them to bring their toys back inside |
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!

They are just tidying up, toys belong outside in the garden. As do, hand brushes, odd socks, leaflets that come through the door, and nice clean dog blankets! |
nothing to add. but loved reading about. mine don't do that. i bring balls to play fetch- which they love to do inside. but outside they will not play with the balls. |
When I go outside and pick them all up, Lola will follow me inside, empty the basket and take them all back outside. <sigh> |
I don't know why they do it, but it's something Hudson tries frequently too, but only with his stuffed ducks.
He has dozens of toys, and three stuffed ducks - all are different. If one is around he'll pick it up and head out the door with it. (Never the chickens, though...not the otter or the bunnies, or the rat...) Only the ducks. I personally think it's because he loves my reaction. I stand at the door and say, "Oh no you don't Hudson. The DUCK STOPS HERE!" Once I heard my neighbour "quack up" from the other side of the fence after I said it. Apparently, Hudson's my straight man... That's a lot of bad puns in one post. Fortunately I LOVE nothing more than a pile of bad puns. |

A gal after my own heart.... |
Max does the same thing. He HAS to take out a toy, does his duty and then I spend ten minutes out there yelling "Go get your toy!". He brings it and drops it 5 feet away. This continues, and continues. Bring it close, drop it, bring it close, drop it. Every now and then we have to go find everything. The only one he'll bring back is his hedgehog he brought with him when I got him as a rescue dog.
Gotta love the sheepies. |

Chauncey received a hedgehog from friends almost 3 years ago, it is absolutely his favorite thing. He will play with other toys on rare occassion, usually when you don't want to play and reject the hedgehog being shoved ( I mean offered ) to you Then he'll try to interest you into another toy or 6. |
Ours is guilty of this also. I came home from work one day to see toys, shoes and a rug in the yard. I asked my husband what was up with all the stuff in the yard. He said he was tired of picking it up to bring it in and Hannah just drags it all back out each time she goes outside so he thought he'd see how much stuff could accumulate in one day. The problem is she grabs a toy, shoe or whatever is there faster then you can bend over to get it.....then out the door she goes shaking watever item she has in her mouth. The best was the stupid rug from the door she took off with. |
