This place was not very large and it was packed...wall to wall kennels and people. I kept the dogs in one kennel to minimize the space they took up. We had to wait about two hrs for a three minute run Kristine will have to help me with names... I think this one is Dazzle Jan won not one but two door prizes A beautiful rump shot Randy laying down the rules to Gar. He didn't listen..first he peed on the A-frame and then a few minutes later he pooped right in the middle of the floor. Randy wouldn't let me show the pic of him picking up poop. Another beautiful rump shot And last but not least...Simon turned a deaf ear and was burning rubber FREE AT LAST!!! Grew ears again and heard me again and the tail(less) end |

Great action shots! Somehow I can't imagine myself looking that co-ordinated when moving.! My dog yes....me |
Nice photos. Crating inside us usually tight. doesn't look like the boys were bothered by it though.
And yes I do believe that was Dazzle. |
Great pictures Pam, thanks for sharing.
I love the one of Randy giving Garfunkle the "talk". I never thought to try that one. |

This is my nine year old, Liz. And, yes, Kerry correctly identified the jumping dog as Dazzle. Great pics, Pam! Thanks so much for sharing OK, so now to figure out where to go for the next run-thru. I'll do some digging. Kristine |
While you're digging, can you find one near me too?? |

Who do you know who has equipment? Anyone? Maybe you can help organize one....? Kristine |

It varies. I think the normal structure around here is $5 first run/$3 second. You set up a course (you can nest novice and advanced courses by judicious use of numbered cones) and people can either run the course or do whatever, but basically you have three minutes to play.
Somebody times, somebody acts as gate steward. There's usually some one to act as "judge" (IF you wish). The one Sunday was part of an Open house at a new facility so we paid $3 a run, which was very nice of them. It was packed. You need to consider that if you have a big turnout, it could run quite some time. Some places will only let you sign up for one run, and then offer a second (or even third) run after it's obvious the first run-thru will not take four hours They're usually held by training clubs or individuals who teach/have an appropriate facility/equipment. Parking and potty (human and canine) are logistic concerns that need to be considered. You have people sign a waiver that they understand doing agility has inherent risks etc etc and the club/owner is not legally responsible for anything that happens. There's sort of a standard disclaimer floating around somewhere I could probably dig up. I don't think it's ever been put to the test, but it doesn't hurt. Are there really no run-thrus up your way? Alternately you can run it as a fun match. more alone the lines of a trial, with or without ribbons. Those are rare around here. Wheels churning yet? kristine |
No, none here. Here meaning the Mankato and surrounding area. The kennel club has the only classes, and the only indoor facility. No private schools, etc or agility clubs.
I'm sure several members of the KC have all the equipment, but with winter and snow - all are in storage. The Paw has the space, but no equipment, etc. I would need to search farther - like the TC's, but that is a 1.5 drive minimum to get into the southern suburbs. |

The Paw has the space, but no equipment, etc. Ahem - maybe The Paw and the several members who have equipment could come to some kind of arrangement... On another note, it might be possible to rent Sue's place some Sunday when the weather is nice again and hold, say, OES only rally, obed and agility fun matches... Perhaps as a warm up for the national or...? I know, doesn't do you much good right now. Kristine |
Trust me, I've had that thought. You would THINK they would love a chance to do run thru's in a new place for proofing....
The idea of an OES event at Sue's - sounds fun. Providing she is willing to be invaded again! On a related note - LeAnne moved up to the 2nd level class with Martha this session and had a good time at the 1st class on Monday. Apparently the instructors were just at a Susan Garrett seminar out your way (in WI somewhere) and have added some new stuff they learned to the foundation classes. She has some crate games activities to work on for stubborn, eyeore Martha. And lastly - PAM - thank you so much for PICTURES!!!! |
