Haven't been on the forum for months (er...years). Our OES Woof is now 7 years old and we need to renew his insurance We've been with PetPlan all his life but thier latest quote is getting outrageous at nearly £50 (just under $100) per month, on a lifetime policy with £7000 on fees per year So, to my fellow UK Owners - who do you use? Any advice welcomed.. |

Hello,
welcome back!! We also use Petplan, our sheepie is only 2 and a half and it's £50 a month. We have not made any claims, I think it's so expensive because it covers any medication including lifelong meds? We are thinking it's pretty expensive but weighing up the pro's & con's. Is there a site to compare pet insurance? Cassie |
we use churchill...not sure of the premiums son pays it for me |
i use www.pet-insurance.co.uk
its about £20 a month and thats for gold cover and for ongoing illness too! i was with the rspca but they more then doubled when it come in for renewal |
I'm with animal friends .£25 a month with lifetime cover.
Marley has a heart condition and his tablets cost £50 a month and i was expecting the premiums to go up but they haven't changed so i can't fault them. I was with pet plan many years ago and when my dog reached 8 the premium doubled overnight so i left them many years ago. Remember if you change insurance companies they usually don't insure for any existing conditions. |
We use PetPlan also, think its about £45 for 2.5 year old sheepie, and we've claimed quite a bit in the past (when she was a puppy she loved the vet ) but no claims recently.
We have two cats covered with them as well (£30 for both).. one of the cats suffers from HCM and has 6 monthly check ups (costing £300+ each time) and they have been great about paying for everything. Although now she is over 10 years old, the premium has gone up and now we have to pay a percentage of the overall bill too. But still, I feel happy with them. |
I use Axa which is £14 a month.
That covers me for £7000 worth of cover per illness and al the usual bits such as third party cover etc etc. I've had claims on George for the past 2 years one for £500 and one recently for £1250. I had the cheques for both claims within a week. The advantage to pet plan is most vets will bill them directly, so you dont have to pay up front, they cover for some things that other plans don't however you do pay alot more for the cover. You have to weigh up the pros and cons. |
I'm with More Than for Hattie which is around £27 she is 4
And I have just renewed Maizie with Tescos. its a little bit cheaper maizie is 5. More than covers most things Apart from Hydro Therapy Which Hattie has been having!!! they do accupunture which is a lot cheaper that hydro! ? which i thought was strange!! But I have to stay with them. Because of Hatt's H.D. |
hiya, dont know if you are still shopping around, i have been doing the same thing in readiness for my new dog.
i found good old M&S reasonable, but just came across Animal Friends Insurance, its only £44 a YEAR. i'm not au fait with alot of the terminolgy, i am looking for price as the main factor and this is the cheapest |
I'm with Animal friends and i have had no problems with them.Read up on what you get though . Luckily i got a liftime policy with Marls and that means if Marls gets a condition that needs medication for life(like his heart meds) they will pay for life.
They do yearly ones aswell but they will only pay for a year and then they won't insure that condition anymore so you will end up paying for any medication after the year . Julianne and Marls |
hiya,
thats what i am trying to compare now, why these insurance companies cant speak plain english is beyond me. did you look up harry? |
Yes found him in Dogs trust . He looks very cute but i'd rather get a pup as i think Marley would take a pup better. |
