Anyone ever have a girl who barely shows? Did she have a normal sized litter (5-8 )? *sigh* |

Yes. my Mad. Very fit bitch when she was bred, took her out of agility training to do so. She wasn't large even right before she delivered and she had a litter of eight. We never did count more than 6, even with x-rays and fetal monitor, because she was carrying a couple of them so high. Was really rather shocked she had that many. I was hoping for no more than four
Mind you, her dam's second litter was a singleton and she looked like she was carrying a marching band How old is Sydney? Kristine |
Sid is three and a half - she turns four in May. As far as this pregnancy, she is still quite bouncy. I had to keep scolding her for jumping up. It was so nice to spend time with her - she loves us all! Even if we have different discipline patterns (she is spoiled rotten with the co-owners and has a bit more discipline with me - with so many dogs and a 3 yr. old boy, I need to enforce basic manners just to slightly control the chaos!). I have a little more hope - perhaps we will have more than one pup this time! She is one of nine so I always assumed she would have at least average sized litters. I told the vet the other day to get ready for taking tails. I mentioned that most pups are done at 1 or 2 days. He balked at that. I guess I'll just have to enforce things.
I'm excited to see how far along she is tomorrow. I have to drive her up to one of my vets as they are a lot less expensive for many things. One vet down in SLC wanted to charge $187 plus a $59 exam fee for one x-ray. No thanks!!! I'll take her for a car ride and save that extra money for the puppies! Apparently the vet was a specialist so I would be paying more for her interpretation. That is all fine and good when it comes to a medical problem but I just needed to know how many skulls are there and how calcified the bones are to further pin down a date. |
