Do you find a difference in using name brand blades verse knock off brands? When I went to Petsmart, they want nearly $35 for a blade, but on PetEdge, I can get the blade for less than $20. Usually, I go with generic on most things, since it's the same product without the name, but I'm not sure if using a knock off blade is any different from the name brand outside of price. |

I've always gone with the brand name blades that match my clipper brand. I get them from Petedge which is cheaper than getting them from a vendor or at a store. I have several but am still using some of my originals from 12 years ago. I have them sharpened generally once or twice a year & always tell the man doing so to let me know when they aren't worth sharpening anymore & I'll buy new from him. So far, he keeps sharpening them! I have 3 dogs that live with me & about 3-4 others that I shave down 2-3 times a year each. |
when i first started grooming i bought all sorts of blades, unknown ones and named ones like oster etc.
the only difference i find it that the cheeper ones need sharpening much sooner then the others, i think the more expensive ones must be harder metal to last longer. they work just as well but dont last as long most of my blades have to be sharpened about every 4 monthes the the cheeper ones every 2-3 months, but they are also used every day. |
Find a good price on name-brand blades. They'll save you money in the long run and the aggravation of dulled blades when you need them most.
I have several Oster, Andis and Wahl blades and they all work much better than my PetEdge (Master Grooming Tools brand) blades. |
