I just saw this post - Desmond and I are in Philly, and would definitely be interested in this! I've always been curious to see how he would behave in such a setting. Did you hear back from the farm yet?
If you're still interested, I can PM you with my information. Thanks for finding this place! |
Thanks for the response..........I would like to see about 6 or 8 of us plan this get-together. There are two interested north of me, but I don't know if they will travel that far ???? I would believe more interest will come from central pa. as the spring weather gets closer.........(hoping) But, I'll keep in touch with you. thanks again, Mike |
Now that the New Year is upon us, I have written for the second time to inquire about 6 to 8 sheepies invading there farm. I would hope to hear a response soon. I will keep you posted. Mike |
Hi Mike,
>>> >>> I don't think that we can help you out. We offer vacation homes on our farm - with a 2 night minimum stay - and we do not allow dogs. Our own dogs - mostly the guard dogs - get very nervous when other dogs are on the farm (as they should.) We do not have enough staff to offer any kind daily tours at this time. >>> >>> Thanks so much for your interest and Happy New Year! >>> >>> Kathy Monsour NEWS JUST RECEIVED REGARDING WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE A GREAT PLAYDATE IN CENTRAL PA..............SORRY, BUT I'M STILL LOOKING................MORE LATER |
NEW INFORMATION : I am pursuing another avenue for PLAYDATE in Pa. This Sheep farm is located in the Eastern part of the State (Pa.) near the New Jersey line. This should mean even more available OES's. Find the sight at www.raspberryridgesheepfarm.com .....check it out. |
I am very interested in this keep me posted |
RASPBERRY RIDGE responded with the information for there farm.
They would reccommend putting the sheepies through there test for natural ability for herding. This should allow for some great pictures and to find out if they're carrying that gene. Should be some fun anyway. They suggested a picnic on there grounds, that goes without being said. More information forthcoming as we get closer. More Sheepies needed, it should include New Jersey, Pa. N.Y. and northern Va. come have a fun day of it. |
This sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Keep the info coming. |
Sounds great Keep us posted |
Count me in too but most weekends in March are pretty booked. Anytime in April or May would be fab. |
I think around May 10th with the Philly Picnic would be good!
I am hoping to go to that! |

Good idea....DUH! I didn't think to tell her! I will though, I bet she will come. My other foster Betty will be there from PA, now! I would love to see my Daffy Dill! |
This is the reply from Raspberry Ridge from my first request for information. As you can see they are limited to 10 dogs, so the first 10 committed will be in. I can't believe we want to get into the insurance coverage thing to get the farm for the day.
I'll keep the info coming, I have another request for Information in now, but as she states, she is in Florida at this time. I requested some available dates sooner than her suggestion of July. I'm waiting to hear. MORE COMING............It woud be a great time! Hi Mike, Yes you can do that. I have greater availability during weekdays for this sort of thing but could also arrange this for a Sunday date in later half of July or most of August on Sundays. You can have herding instinct testing only—the fee would be $65 per dog for numbers of dog less than 10. Then you and your dogs could meet, greet, and you could have a picnic, too. If you wanted the farm for the full day for your use (you can walk in the fields, hold a picnic, do whatever), the fee would be $350 for the day for rental of the farm. However, I usually require that an organization that arranges for this supplies me with proof of liability and medical insurance for the day’s event for a minimum of $1 million. I am about to head down for FL for a few weeks. I will occasionally be checking e-mails, but wont be back in full contact until early Feb. But still, try to contact me, and I will do my best to answer any further questions. Sincerely, Carolyn Wilki |
I'd be interested. The Harrisburg Show is mid April so if we could avoid that. I know Raspberry Ridge holds AKC herding trials and tests, I wonder why they would require a group to carry their own liability insurance. ($1 mill for a small, private event usually doesn't cost that much, P.S.) |
It sounds like mid to late April would be ideal.......I will try for something in that area.
If Maxmm would like to check into availability of possible insurance needed, that would be greatly appreciated. No reply from Florida as of yet........ Mike |
I'm definitely interested in this - and mid to late April is open for us! ~ Julie |
