Poor Guiness!!!! and poor YOU!!! Good thoughts to a happy ending for all of you!!! Give that sweet a gentle kiss from his number 1 fan!!! ME!!!! |
God, Cindy - I am so sorry. I would have totally lost it by now.
Wondered why so few updates. Hope you feel better soon, Guinness. Cindy, too. Kristine |
I am speechless Cindy. Poor Guiness.
I know a human this happened to, a friend of my son. He had back surgery even though he thought it was his hip but they assured him it was not. After missing a semester of school and having back surgery they later determined it was his hip. |
Its so odd Cindy - I woke up thinking that I needed to find out what was going on with Guiness somehow - I knew the MRI's you mentioned last week must have meant another issue.
So sorry for both of you I hope this time he recovers quickly. |

Well, I hope this is truly the answer! TPLO is pretty radical....(Sam had it) but I hope it brings relief. Worked for Sam! |
What a nightmare! Although is it possible that the hip replacement will save him some agony later on, when it would be harder to tolerate a surgery? Looking for a bright side. I really hope this will do the trick and your sweet boy can resume a normal bouncy sheepdog lifestyle. |
Suckkkkkkkkkkksssssssss. |
Holy crap... I can't imagine..
Have you talked to the vet who did the unnecessary hip replacement about a refund or discount of sorts? |
"Suckkkkkkkkkkksssssssss." bigtime
There is a possibility that down the road he may have needed a replacement I will never know Dogs with awful hips sometimes never need surgery I have not spoke to nor returned to the first vet. I did however ask that all records be sent to him. I am sooooo angry and upset about all this I am afraid my hands will gravitate to his neck and my knee (well just imagine) I am just so upset at the pain this sweet sweet dog has been in for so long. I want to send a letter and an itemized bill to the other vet. BUT I need to get my boy better Put my energy into him. I am wondering when the anger will lessen?? So far it just escalates VOSM (where he is being seen now) are a godsend They adore him and he loves to see the vet They have done an xray and test or two for free and I wish I had gone there first. If wishes were horses beggars would ride.................. Thanks for the support I REALLY need it now. |
Is there legal action that you can take for a misdiagnosis? Or is it assumed since he did actually have dysplasia that he did "need" the surgery so it wasn't actually a misdiagnosis? |
I'm so sorry this happened. I hope it works out better for Guiness now! |
oh you poor thing what you have gone through my prayers for the surgery hope this one is the right one |
OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You and poor Guinness are having a very bad time. Hope he gets relief from pain. I really don't know what to say. So sorry for all you both are going through |
Sucks doesn't begin to cover it . I think after your boy starts improving (and very soon I hope!) that you should consider some legal action. That's a huge amount of money to spend when you didn't need to, not to mention the suffering for all involved. |
Hope all went well for Guinness today. Looking forward to a positive report. |
OH MY!!!! This is horrible to hear. For those of us that feel "price is no obstacle in the path of the well-being of my pet" this is being seriously taken advantage of!!!!!! To spend so much money, so much time and so much HOPE that Guiness feel better.... only to go through so much pain and grief! I hope he starts feeling better soon! |

I'll second that!!!!!!!!! Hope things will improve....finally. |
Oh My
I am so sorry for both you and Guinness I hope his surgery went well and this is the beginning of real healing for your boy. |
Cindy I missed this whole post!!!
Hope you and Guiness are doing okay! My Dog he is the most wonderful boy... This absolutely sucks.... He is so lucky that he has you and Bob!! Love you girl... |
Awww Thanks everyone. That pic of him was post op hip surgery See hoe black his r leg is?? I dropped him off this morning with his stuffy bear Everyone was making over him I had a long talk with the two vets and one said that replacing the hip sometimes happens when it is really the knee. Hmmph...... He was in so much pain but the surgeon said with the TPLO he will have a lot less pain when he wakes up. It is a 95% fix. I am very hopeful this will fix my sweet boy . If not I may just spontaneously combust Again it really helped me to write this all down and post. Maybe I should send a copy of this post to the first vet |
I hope he does well and feels all better soon.
One thing I learned with PT for Marley was that if its the knee the dog will turn in the rear toe slightly (so slightly I couldn't see it until it was all better and then I went "oh I get it now!"). I would assume an ortho vet should have been able to see the difference. |
Hope everything goes well and recovery is speedy. I would defintely send this post to your previous vet. If I couldn't recoop some of my wasted $ not to mention Guinness's pain and suffering, I would be spreading my story all over MD and the tri-state area |
Hey want to know the first surgeon??? LOL I have spoke to many people since I do several breed rescues and they are no longer using this vet (annapolis MD) I just got a call it is 5:30 here my poor boy has not been in the OR yet ! An emergency and some complicated cases UGH I hate it when the surgery is not done early I like the surgeon to be fresh!!!! I have to go to the vet and get a sheepdog foster that was shaved and neutered today. Poor boy he was so matted thay had to use a surgical blade to shave him down I will take to foster home with a warm blanket coat, his new collar, and leash. As soon as I hear I will post. He was a happy boy this am Thanks for all the thoughts |
