Snow What's Up With This ????

We had a few 6"- 8" snows when Chauncey was a puppy and he loved it , last year we only had a few flurries ( 1-4" or so ). He loved it as well.
We had a 24" snow-storm this weekend and he wants none of it. When he needs to go out he hugs the house where there is only a few inches. He held it yesterday until his last walk at about 9:30 pm and pee'd a river. He then wanted to go out at about 2:30 this morning and he sometimes will go out about this time if I can't sleep. It was too late for a walk, so out back he went. He again hugged the back of the house in the light snow and actually put his front paws in the snow just off the patio to do his business. He immediately decided that this was enough and pee'd on the lower level of the patio ( it had about 6" where he went ). I was okay with this as he actually tried. Today, after the snow finally stopped, Bob made him a long path, and cleared a good section of the patio........He is a happy puppy.
In the past he would root in the snow and toss it up, eat it and stick his head in it to his eyes to the point I'd pull him out, afraid he'd sufficate.
Any idea's why the change??? Is it just the amount?

We also got 22"...first day my two TT's ran in it, got cold and wet with snowballs hanging all over...second day we had to shovel a path for them to go and do their business...they won't go out into the snow at this point but it's 18 this am and I think they are just trying to stay warm. My OES Daisey didn't even want her feet wet when it rained and I had to drag her out to go. Everyone seems excited to get snow...it lasted about an hour...we can't even drive out our driveway as we can't find anyone to plow our roads as it's not state roads...we are trapped till it melts and below the snow is ice. We answered our door Friday night to a man who wrecked his car a mile up the road and had walked...he didn't know who he was at first...got him in, hot coffee, changed wet clothes, fed him and he slowly got better...paramedics couldn't make it up the mountain. He stayed with us till yesterday when a neighbor with 4 wheeler took him to his car and a wrecker pulled him out. We are hoping to get out by Wednesday before the next storm to spend Christmas 2 hours away with daughter...snow isn't so great without a plow or big snow blower! Over 500 accidents first day, no power for 60,000 and very cold! This is not FUN! Prefer summer over winter by far!
Wow, Linda! What good Samaritans you & your husband were to that man. :clappurple: Y'all got a lot more snow up there than we did down the mountain a little way. Hope you get out soon. Did you have plenty of supplies packed in?

As for why Chauncey doesn't like the snow this time, I have no good ideas. I know yesterday we took the wigglebums up into the mountains where there was 20+" of snow and Genny did NOT enjoy walking in it, but she is fine here with 8". So maybe it was just that he didn't want to make the effort in that deep stuff? :?
Well he'd better get use to it. The forecast is for temp's below 32 during the day and in the teens to low 20's at night, so it's not going anywhere for a while. We are also suppose to get another significant snow the end of the week.
Um, not fun to do your business when your business parts so to speak are in direct contact with the white sh$t maybe?

24" 8O Yikes! All I'd be able to see of my dogs is their heads

You can always do what we do for geriatric dogs in the great, white north: shovel him a path to a "rest area"

Kristine
Bob mentioned that certain body parts may not want to function under snow ( I guess it's a guy thing ) So Chauncey has a nice long path the lenght of the yard. And he has not strayed from the path.
