Yes, uncooked!! The bigger/thicker the better. Femurs are good. Small chance you could get a full femur, but more likely a section...make it at least 7 inches long and hopefully the ticker end. If the top is on it, fine, good gnawing. Avoid thin, sharp bones. As for how much meat/fat left on it........some is fine. If too much, it is too rich for the dogs.
Friends give their dogs pork neck bones, but I'm still a bit leary of them only because my guys don't have the practice. All the chewing gets messy to give the bone where the mess won't matter and be prepared to wash a face and front paws afterward. |
I use femur and knuckle bones They do tend to get messy but the dogs love them and it really cleans their teeth up !! I have a bunch frozen that my guys will get christmas eve. I always make sure I am home when my guys are chewing away just in case something should break off. |
Ok and thanks Fermur it is . And I won't mind the mess on her face and paws because I'm a bad mommy and she needs to be shaved |
Around here everyone hunts so nice big Moose bones are my dogs favorite. Samson teeth have improved greatly since we got him, nearly all tartar build up is gone and keeps him busy...lol. |
