For those who haven't heard, I've elected to keep the troll I've been fostering. Her name was Daphne. I've known her as Daphne for the 15 mos (!!!) since she was surrendered. Still, I've hated the name. And, too, I felt a new beginning required a new name. But I wanted to stay with something that sounded closer to her old one to facilitate the change for both of us . As of December 19th she offically became Dazzle. Now comes the hard part: and ILP/PAL name. She was surrendered sans papers, so I'll need to apply to the AKC for a tracking number so she can someday compete . And since all of my youngest have Madness in their names, it will start with Madness. It should contain some variation of Dazzle. So far I've come up with: Madness Dazzle Me Madness Frazzled And Bedazzled Madness Bewitched And Bedazzled Vet likes the second one. She stayed with her for a while so she knows her well I'm partial to the first one, though my vet makes a convinving argument. The third is catchy, but really not her, since there is, frankly, nothing bewitching about a dog who breaks your kitchen window or leaves you black and blue for months on end due to a compulsive need to jump on you when stressed. She is not to be referred to as a rescue dog. One, to my mind it is an overused term. Simply put, her former owner couldn't train her to behave in a civilized manner, though she did try. She has my sympathies. Too, the expression is overused as an excuse for every misbehavior known to man. Whatever her genetic baggage that made her unsuitable for most sane homes , she is from this point forward expected to live up to the standard of DOG. A good dog. On the flip side, as a breeder, I'm too vain to want anyone to think I bred her. I think I shall refer to her as an ILP'd or rehomed dog. Once the former's been done. Yes, nomenclature is that important to me. So, any suggestions? Here's a pic of her if it helps inspire: Thanks! Kristine |

I think your good dog should be named ......
Madness Frazzled And Bedazzled I have a dog just like her here. My molly, she is at the right place Crazy Acres. She herds the geese (in the air) she herds planes, she herds other dogs and birds etc. I need to put her skills to good use when I get Guinness well. I think it is wonderful that dazzle found a place in your pack |
I like all the names but I'm afraid she'll live up to her name if you name her the 2nd name (and frazzle YOU!). I was thinking of something a bit more "positive" in hopes she'd live up to that. Something like...Madness Watch Me Dazzle You. That way you are giving her a positive goal............. since she'll obviously (from the picture) be a good agility dog (hey, can she teach José how to jump like that ) |
I like that nams better |
Thanks, Marilyn and Cindy both.
Clearly Cindy and my vet think alike, but having named a dog SYBIL, AKA Masquerade Must Be Madness, I am inclined to go with your reasoning, Marilyn! (Though I LOVE Crazy Acres ) That's why I chose the call name Dazzle, thought it had a positive conjunctation. And, Marilyn, she is in many ways the best jumper I've ever worked with. Better, in some ways, than Sybil even, who is superb. Why? The one thing she can't depart to dogs like Jose and Sybil and so on: she doesn't have much bone to lug around On the flip side, forget trying to teach her even the beginning of a contact method (I use the one rear toe on method) because she thinks she has to jump OVER the board (boing, boing, boing!) They all have their strengths and weaknesses. And some point Molly, Kathy's Devon, was it? (Kath - who's your crazy lady dog?) and Dazzle may have to meet. Kristine |

Well, lot of help YOU are!!! How's Heart doing, by the way? Agility, I mean? Recall that there will be a most versatile performance OES competition at the national next year... Kristine |

Well.........I guess I was just hoping there might be a shortcut for us somewhere there. Can't do much about José's amount of bone. I think it's here to stay |
Mad Dog wrote: Madness Watch Me Dazzle You Madness Dazzle Me Dizzy KB I like both of these names....... *keeps picturing a bedazzled sheepdog* |
Just to let you know I'm thinking..... |
i think you forgot bewitched, bedazzled and BEWILDERED
what about blue dazzle? or dazzle me (black and ) blue? |
Everytime I look at the name Madness Dazzle Me
my eyes register it at first glance to Madness Me Dazzle |
Madness watch me Dazzle you has a nice ring Crazy Acres is the name of our farm and it really seems to fit. No farm animals anymore but a few crazy dogs and residents I also like your theory of rescue dog but rescues save these dogs. Many folks think when I say all my dogs are rescues ,they ask rescued from what ?? OWNERS ??? or they think because I have German Shepherd Dogs that they are search and rescue Now I am wandering in thought ( yeah who woulda thunk ? ) One day I want to do the sport of Schutzhund. First I need a dog that will cooperate........ |
Right away, Madness Frazzled And Bedazzled stuck to me. It seemed to flow well together and I like the sound of it. |
Kristine - are you set on the Madness being on the front end of the name? |
I like Madness Watch Me Dazzle.
I agree you don't want to jinx her or yourself!! You have heard the story of Murphy's Law Unleashed.... (you know how long it is, you edited it! ) I am glad she is finally home!!! |
Madness Bewitched And Bedazzled has my vote! |
Have been too busy to catch this thread.
Kristine, you already know I agree with not jinxing yourself with names. I have a Tiggy, Tiggy touchwood chaser. I like Madness Dazzle me Dizzy. What about Madness Razzle Dazzle? |

Willowsprite wrote: Madness Dazzling Diva, also like anything with Dizzy in it. High energy dogs make me dizzy LOL
You know, Diva came to my mind as well, and it fits in its own weird way, but I think it's been a little overdone in the breed. (Unfortunately there is also another performance OES named Dazzle, male - I didn't remember till later ) But Dazzle works for her, so... And Dizzy describes her...Well. Still haven't made up my mind. Madness Dizzle for Shizzle |
Ron wrote: Madness Dizzle for Shizzle
Well, apart from the fact that I had to use an urban dictionary to look it up, sure does fit KB |
I'm VERY hip.
Fo shizzle. |
In spite of having the puking flu I have been thinking.....
I have been tossing around (bad pun) something with Holidazzle. The St. Paul Holidazzle Parade is fun, and seeing she became "official" during this season I thought it was fitting. |
