I am getting cards every day and loving it! Tonka and Luna is a riot! And is that a real bunny making the censored remark? |

I can't take much credit; Adam came up with the idea for the card. Then he photographed the girls on a green screen and added all the elements together in Photoshop. I think he found that photo of the bunny online somewhere. I did make the girl's head gear though (don't want to give it away)! |

Sneakysheepie
Got yours today. Oh so great! They aer beautiful and great photo |
Ooh I hope I get your's today Stephanie. I was wondering where it was. Last year's picture of Winston was great and I can hardly wait to see Paislee with him this year.
Tonks and Luna were cracking me up too. |

Tonks and Luna were cracking me up too. Tonks and Luna just don't take a whole lot of things seriously. When we told Tonks to go and put on her "holiday best" for her photo, I guess we should have specified what holiday! |
Waiting for both Steph and Allisons.... |
What about mine? has anyone gotten it...it has Keira looking out the window at me snowshoeing, and the sheepies being sheepies? She has a look on her face like...they're crazy!!! anyone get it yet? |

Got it today! Winston and Paislee are perfect posers! |
I know that mine is not Christmassy but it was such a good photo that I couldn't resist.
My wall is filling up and it looks GREAT!!!!! I haven't found a bad picture in the whole bunch. |
We are still snowed (more like iced) in, the rubbish has not been collected & there has been no post
OK enough with the snow now I want my sheepie cards!!! |
Anyone get mine yet???? I really had fun getting the paints out again, it's been more than 15 years since I painted anything.... |
Yes, I got the painting today! It is beautiful! I think you should get out your painting stuff more often. You ahve a great talent!
Now I have to say how embarassed I am that my cards, although they went out early, are not nearly as nice as the ones I am getting. How is it everyone has such nice clean dogs????? Well, warning...I plan to get a good pix of my dogs in the huge snow storm we are currently getting and will make that into my pix for next year! |
I have to probably use old pics or they will end up being Valentine's Day card with Ron's.
I usually shoot for New Years!!!! |

Dawn, they were mailed out at least two weeks ago. I know that Mrs. J mentioned getting mine... |

Um...and...uh...HOW did she get into that chair like that??? Heart loves to sit in chairs....unfortunately,,,her big tusch doesn't seem to fit in too many.... |
Great display!! I love seeing so many cards.
Can't wait to get the rest of them!! Late or not, it's just fun getting them in the mail. |
Very nice Val . |
Very nice display! Appetizers and Sheepies... can't get much better than that! |
Did somebody say appetizers and sheepies? Where and when! |
Sheepalot, your card was like a scene out of a movie!!! Absolutely perfect!!!
Unfortunately I got one more card, I think from the UK that got to my son first and he's at the draw and destroy anything I can touch now that I discovered markers stage. So I don't know who it was from. |
Great display Val.
My cards are high up on the windows as if we are waiting for the tide to come in...... someone has had issues in the past with ripping up cards that we display on the window seal. I got six yesterday and now we are up to 39 received and I know there are more coming. They are all so wonderful. I will share my "blonde moment" of the day with you. I get a kick out of Deb's (Verve Up) card and couldn't wait to open the envelope to see what the creative Graphic Artist came up with this year especially after last year's overloaded Christmas van. However, when I took it out I didn't realize I was looking at the back side and thought "Oh that is a cute collage" as I admired the nice looking dogs. It wasn't until I was hanging it up that I put it together and realized the back was a sneak peak into the creation of the card. Not that I thought Frank had actually gone snowboarding but I never gave it a thought that everyone was "posed" for the intended activity and then placed into the photo. Thanks Deb for the tutorial. I didn't know what a Graphic Artist was when I was heading off to college - computers back then were still IBM punch cards. But I realize now that I would have really liked being a graphic artist. So it was kind of fun to see the "outtakes" for the front and inside of the card. |
hmmm... I don't think I have Deb's card yet. No snow boarding sheepies on anything I've received. But now I am excited to see it! I'm curious about her graphic designer's process, what Judi described as posed and then placed in the photo. It sounds alot like what we had to do! |
I haven't gotten hers yet either! I can't wait now. |

Deb's card is AMAZING! It is so cute and fun. I loved the sense of fun and I am in awe of the creative talent. |
The postman finally made it to us today!! We got 4 cards, the one with Tonks & Luna made me laugh out loud
Still not got Dawn's yet I think the post has been held up all over the country though. |
I got Deb's.....too funny...too cute!!!! |
Laurel, that is the prettiest picture. Love how you drew the doggies!!! Definitely something I'll use as a bookmark!
Sheepdogma, yours was equally as creative! Looks like that took a lot of time!! The inside was cuuuute. Cinemarco, looks like your dogs were a little anxious about Christmas ...like let's say ever since halloween? ...and I love the sheepie faces on heatherwm, jean, and sneakiesheepie's card! I'm surprised you were able to keep your dog IN the box, heather. mine would have been super freaked out! |
I am getting so many - they are great!!!
I love all the variety and the colors and styles. It makes a fun display on my wall. Breanna helps me put them up each day after school. I stand on a chair, she hands me the cards and tape and points out the best spot for each one |
Whew! Im so glad that mine have started arriving! I got them out sooooo late! |

ChSheepdogs wrote: I got yours today too! I love it! It is getting used as a bookmark after Christmas too! And because I read all the time, it will be in use forever! I guess its a good thing I had the printers use a very heavy card stock! I send my card out to some of my regular customers too, and one lady called me yesterday to ask if she could buy the original...I had to say no, since the original, framed is one of Scott's gifts this year....so, Im doing a similar commission piece for her using her dogs as the models. This will be interesting, since she has 3 sheepies, 2 Havanese, and 3 westies! Im thinking, maybe the sheepies pulling the sled, with all the little dogs riding in it? |
Oh Laurel, your card is beautiful. Almost too good to use as a bookmark. |
Laural..I DO have it up with the rest of the cards, but I can't wait to use it as my bookmark !!! I just LOVE it!!!
Merry Christmas!!!! |

Merry Christmas!!!! Me too! It is a terrific bookmark! I love it. |
Very inventive, Laurel! I may even laminate mine after I take the cards down, so it lasts even longer! |
It is still exciting to go to the mailbox! I am almost sad that they are almost all here!
Laurel--LOVED yours too! Everyone is right--what a wonderful bookmark and the ART is fabulous! Loved the little 'surprise' in sheepdogmama's card! ALL are wonderful! |
Having so much fun receiving everyone's cards. My husband thinks I've totally jumped the shark now with my OES obsession with the incoming mail each day.
Glad that you guys are liking our cards so far. They all went into the mail on Friday late afternoon, before the snowstorm, so it's interesting that CO is getting them before GA. The outtakes are on the back, because most people don't realize that we end up doing things the "hard way" for a family portrait, by piecing everything together vs taking a nice group shot. I was insisting to my husband that all of us needed to be on the front, and stressed that our sheepdogs have to be on the front for all of my OES card-displaying friends. It was his idea to move them to the inside, which worked great, because now you can turn the card inside out to display them instead of seeing us on the front. And Judi, many times I think I may have been better off NOT going into graphic design as a profession. |
Ahhhh I'm loving the cards!!! Chewie is just the cutest I want to hug him & kiss his lovely big nose!!! The adventures of Harry continue, I love the postcard type theme |
When I opened sheepiedogmama's card...I couldn't stop laughing!!!! GREAT card!!!!!!
I felt the need to keep this one out of Heart's (harms) way!!!! She cannot resist TP...especially 2 ply!!!!!!! |
vERVE uP, ....coolest. card. ever. I've been looking at it for several minutes now. Don't think we'll be able to take yours down and I plan on taking just your card with us to show our family over Christmas. The doggies in the outttakes combined with your husband's expression is too much Your hub is a good looking guy. Love the frames on both of your glasses. |
Finally had time to hang my cards yesterday. It was great to revisit each card again. The sweetness in Sheepie faces conveys the best of the holidays. Love, peace, and happiness and lets not forget just a bit of goofy.
I have a little left over matting, so Laurels card will be framed for a Christmas decoration. My boys took the Verve Up card so they could hang it in their apt and show it to their boarding friends this weekend. I love how Maggie is sitting so sweetly while Henry chews on the edge of the Merry Christmas sign. Each card made me smile, not just for the furry faces, loving eyes, and those adorable wiggle bums, but for the loving people that care so much they are willing to take the time to share. Buffett was pleased that his gift of high grade 2ply TP brought a few laughs. Next year I will start earlier and get a real photo. No more compilation drawings from old photos. I'll leave the artistic stuff up to the people that know what they are doing. I still have a little room left on the cabinet and can't wait to fill it up with more cards............ |
My hubby was a cynic when we did it last year.
This year he scolded me for considering a certain style of card, instead of the deluxe ones. Sure enough, we ended up spending twice as much. "Nothing's too good for a sheepie" he said. Last year I heard about the cost of postage. This year he nagged me to get ours out fast. He comes home EVERY day and checks the wall. He won't admit he's hooked, but he smiles at every single one. He has also picked out a few who have "ThePas expressions" or "Portage's eyes." We even found a "BRANDON smile" in the cards. It's so heartwarming to see them. I don't have many yet, so I'm hoping they continue to arrive well into the new year. What a wonderful thing this exchange is. Thank you so much to everyone who participated. |
Never fear....I am working on the Happy New Year
card! |
Had to let you all know how the sheepie cards went over with my kids - they LOVED them, as usual. The display was the first place they checked out when they got home. Spencer's favorite was Henry chewing the sign, his second favorite was the collage from Deb (VerveUp). Sarah's favorite was Harry in front of the train station.
I also gave them an oes.org sheepie calendar - also a big hit!! |
got most, but there are still a few who I haven't received cards from. |

All of my Christmas Decorations (2 trees) where down and put away by 10:15 am on Dec 26th. I just felt in the mood to clean up.
I have so enjoyed receiving all the great Christmas Cards. Yesterday, while it rained all day here, I put all of my oes.org 2009 cards in a scrap book. I really enjoyed putting them away and now will have them out on the book case all year to enjoy. Today I plan on working on my 2008 cards and then my 2007. Thank you so much for taking the time to send me your Christmas Cards..I have enjoyed them so much and appreciate all the hard work that goes into sending them out. |
I love the scrap book idea! I may use that.... |
I received two more cards today!! Mandy's is ADORABLE!!! Don't want to spoil anything, so I'll stay quiet.
And Sue (Bailey's Mom) - we miss you posting! Come back!! |

I got yours pretty early on...but Im in Alaska, so Canada mail gets here relatively quick, I think I remember, because I wound up displaying all of the (several!) cards with sheepie "reindeer" together...in just cracked me up every time I glanced at that section! |
Ok good to know! How did the post card hold up? I wasn't sure how well it would travel but I liked the idea of it |

I really hope no one's was in the mail yesterday - because with this storm, the road grader AGAIN hit my mailbox, the door flew open and all my mail was gone!
This time the county highway dept got a call and they are coming out to "look at it". Lucky for them I'm at work today, so they will get to talk to Todd... We've lived there for over 20 yrs, the mailbox post is older than dirt, so I know it was old before we moved in. Why hit twice in a month? and never hit before? |

you should consider doing a larger, limited edition print. I know I would buy one! |
Darth Snuggle wrote: you should consider doing a larger, limited edition print. I know I would buy one!
I thought about that...but normally I do giclees, which require a color separation, and that starts at around $500.00. Im not sure if I could sell enough sheepie x-mas prints to make that worth while. The cards were just scanned and basically printed as a color xerox...which I could do up to 17" in length...but I doubt the image would look very good when not shrunk down Maybe Ill try printing one that way and see Having been a (by hand) printmaker for so long, Im still getting used to this reproduction thing...It still feels like "cheating" somehow Im curious, how do some of you other artists on here do your printing? |
Adam and I have had limited licenses to do prints for Lucasfilm in the past. When we do those, we go with Heidelberg press and use archival high cotton content paper. Its pretty expensive, but feel the material warrants it. Also, the Star Wars collectors pay good money for the art, and we haven't had any problem making our money back and then some on the deal.
When we do our own prints, we use a high grade Epson ink jet and archival papers. The Epson we just upgraded to uses 7 or 8 different inks and was grossly expensive. We're not as happy with it as we were with our old Epson 2200. That one we bought re-furbished, and paid for with our first print run. |

Im not familiar with that term...is it digital, mechanical, or hand run like a letter press or an etching press? The part that always worries me, is the actual scanning process. My originals are collages made of silk fiber...so they dont really scan or photograph very easily. Giclee printing, pricey as it is, seems to be the only way to get the colors and textures right. Once the color separation is done, the costs aren't that bad (maybe 30-75.00 per print depending on size) but that initial outlay limits me to only 3-5 new images each season. With my hand printmaking, of course, it was just ink and paper, and sweat-of-the-brow so I got spoiled. Massive migraine headaches caused by a sensitivity to my inks have ended that era of my career, alas |

Dawn, not only is your sheepdogs-pulling-the-sled painting really good, but your photos of your home and winter scenes are beautiful. You are a brave woman to live in such a cold climate. Kentucky has a few inches of snow and frigid temps and you would think the world was coming to an end. By your photos, Alaska is a beautiful state.

I agree with Allison, that you should check out the Epson printer with the pigmented inks. You can get really nice results printing on a nice stock to keep the costs down.
Not sure what you mean by color separation? Do you mean color adjustments to make it look more like the original? If you ever need any help on the digital end with color adjustments, let me know and maybe I could help. I love your print too! |

I just bought a new printer myself and wound up getting a Canon instead of Epson this time. My Epson R1800 and I had many, many fights. It sounds like the one you bought is the level that I talked myself out of because I didn't want to spend all that money (even though it's a work purchase). I ended up getting the Canon Pixma Pro9500 Mark II since it was kind of the next level down and I don't do a lot of high run, high quality prints at a time (although just doing test prints, I blew out the magenta). I bought two more sets of the 10 cartridges of pigment based ink for just over $300 so I'm going to try not to be wasteful. It's a nice printer and I've been pretty happy with it although I wish some print company would make a high end home or commercial printer that would do bleeds on any custom size. I hate bleeding and trimming! I don't do a ton of photo printing but the prints are incredible. |

I love your print too! Its basically a high-end scan. Giclees (also called Iris prints) are done on a 15 color ink jet, and have the advantage of being able to do pretty much any size, on almost any material/paper. I have some of my prints done on canvas, and stretched like an oil painting...its quite cool! They are also a big improvement over old-fashioned offset lithos, where you had to order the whole print run at once...giclees can be ordered one at a time if you want, so you are not storing inventory. Sometimes, though, I miss printmaking It was so direct and non-technical! Ink...paper...crank...repeat! ....ok, so also a huge mess, horrible fumes, lots of dud prints to tear up, days of drying time....hmmm, never mind! Im suddenly liking the giclees again! |
Cards from Bailey's mom and Oscar's Mom recently came and they are adorable. I've tucked them away into my OES.ORG 2009 scrapbook.
Thank you all the great group of cards. I finished putting the 2007 cards in my scrapbook yesterday and it was fun to see how many of the sheepies have grown. I'm looking forward to this years cards. |
I do my printing on a Canon Pixma and they do a great job.
this one for Lisa was printed out on Strathmore canvas and I think she will agree that it looked fine, also my xmas cards are printed on the same machine |
On the canvas was even more beautifull. Gave the portrait texture and more depth to it. The owners were overwhelmed with it when it went over to them of their boy. It takes pride of place on their wall at home Thanks again jean for the wonderfull piece of artwork. |
Received another Christmas card today...woo hoo! Thank you Casey and Jennifer JCC9797...love your card. |
