Willoughby's ear turned into a saga. The collar finally came off but the stitches got infected and we had to make daily trips to the vet to have drops into the ear, cleaning and ointment on the stitch area in addition to my cleaning the ear. This went on for 2.5 weeks. Two external stitches were removed and one is ingrown. The external site is in the final stages of healing. Work has been very trying as health care is losing funding all over the place. Our agency is slated to keep some of our contracts and may lose others. I am getting ready to go after more $ with proposals and this is a lot of work. Staffing continues to be time consuming in addition to keeping a new program from going off the rails. Why are directions so difficult to follow for some people? I find I have less energy than I used to have for all this. Anyway, I treated myself to a few days in Vancouver following a conference. It was great: I saw friends, ate some good food, went shopping (modest purchases, as most of my money goes on Merlin, Willoughby and the cats.) Willoughby went to a kennel here for the first time. The dogs go out to play in large groups which he isn't used to and he got into trouble for being pushy at the door when it was time to go out. We are now practising "wait" . Unfortunately, we have both been on the sick list after I got back on Sunday. I picked up some kind of bug from the plane. We were on the tarmac for an hour waiting to be de-iced without proper ventilation. Willoughby came home with a tummy upset so yesterday was spent with me shivvering (-21C) as I stood outside waiting for him to do his thing for the umpteenth time. We both staggered in and collapsed together. He also managed to rub his messy bottom on the living room rug leaving a huge circle of poo! Luckily, I bought a "little Green Machine" last year and it did the trick in no time flat but given my weakened state this took longer than usual. I had actually selected a photo for our card at the beginning of December and had started decorating here and there. One project invovled spraying pine cones and using glitter glue to add sparkle.(lots of fun when you are feelling well!) Luckily, I'm planning a quiet Christmas and no one is expected: my brother and his wife are in Florida and I decided not to fly to Calgary to visit my son as I had a feeling things wouldn't go smoothly for me in transit at this time of year. I was right. Now, we are planning to have our turkey together and watch movies in peace. We should have recovered by then! So, don't give up: the cards may arrive by New Year but you never know! I'm going to make and then lie down for a while. Please stay tuned! |

Lynda, take it easy. You can celebrate Christmas any day you wish or not at all if you just can't do it. The year hubby had health issue, I put up a 3 foot artificial tree, the topper was a OES Christmas card someone sent to me......added a few other items, that was it. No cards, they went out in February. We did fine. Christmas is not the time to make yourself sick, or in your case, sicker. Relax, and hope someone shares their Christmas cookies with you. |
Take care of yourself first and foremost. |

Said perfectly!! We're thinking of you. Take it easy!!! |
Oh you poor dear! Please take good care of yourself. Enjoy Christmas the way you want to. The holiday season is so stressful especially if you are travelling. I should know...I'm a flight attendant and all I'm dealing with this month are super-stressed passengers!! I think parents with small children should especially choose to stay home and let the family come to them! |
Give yourself time to relax and some space to breathe. Christmas can be so stressful, that's not what you need right now! Enjoy your day relaxing and watching movies, that's what we will be doing too- I'll think of you & send you good vibes |
Lynda, I hope you and the gang will all be feeling better soon. Take a breather, hug the animals and you will feel better! |
Take care - Christmas has a habit of coming around every year.

As a frequesnt traveler on a flight into Orlando I wish that was a year round rule |
Lynda I hope you are feeling better soon. Staying home and relaxing can be your Christmas Present to yourself. You've had a rough month and so now it is time for some "me" time. |
Just hearing from you made me feel better!
I'm in the office for a few hours and have eaten two turtles that seem to have medicianl properties! The mysterious ailment has become laryngitis and I know how to treat that. Willoughby's tummy has returned to normal and he's now on his diet of boiled chicken and rice. He's off to the groomer's tomorrow to be restored to his ususal elegant little self. The cats are unperturbed. (They are getting new beds for Xmas that have a pocket for cat nip!) Again, many thanks!!! Willoughby's Mom |
cat nip pockets?? how cool!
I've never tried catnip for my cat who thinks he's a dog. And with all the dogs, I am afraid what might happen! As it is, he claims all the dog beds as his..... |
hang in there thinking of you |
