I hope he is feeling better. I wish! I picked him up at 4 and he started vomitting again at 6 - all he has had is water since friday. I think he needs a second day of fluids and a stronger shot for his stomache so I cna get his meds in him - we'll see tomorrow |
Keep us posted. Kristine |
Well, that's crappy news. Are you taking him in tonight, or hoping he's hydrated enough for now to get through until morning? |
Get better real soon Morgan!!! We are ALL worried about you!!! |

He had plenty of fluids and vit b at the vet's and he has kept some water down. I think he'll be fine until morning, he wasn't severely dehydrated to begin with this time. we are getting way too experienced with this |

I hope everthing settles down soon for the night. Too bad you can't do the SQ bags at home..... On a better (I think) note, I got a call from our vet's wife Saturday, saying they had a holiday gift for our family. I had to get fecals done for TDI and a refill of heart meds for Tazz, so I told her I was coming today. Turns out for "select" good patients, they had gift boxes of fresh fruit (apples, oranges, grapefruit and pears)!!! I think that puts us in the "own a room" group as well , or else we are just so nice and sweet..... lol |
^^^^^
sweet!!! well I woke up this morning to a fairly bouncy Morgan weighting by the side of the bed, he also managed to keep his evening drink down all night. we shall see. |
Hope he is better! Poor guy |

Kerry is this a regular occurance with Morgan and chucking?
Just wondering |
He goes in bouts - anything that he gets into, anytime he gets sick (Lyme etc) he ends up with pancreatitis.
It has been a while (Spring) since he had a bout. Of course a few weeks ago someone (who shall remain nameless to protect her 6 plus 1 dogs) sent me an email asking how things were going because she hadn't heard of me building any recent wings for the vet's hospital. Anyway - he is back "visiting" again today. I am sure there is blood work and more IV's in his future Do you think my kids will accept paid vet bills as Christmas presents |
That is really odd that he gets sick like that unless he's constantly getting into some fairly dangerous stuff.
Was he diagnosed with lyme? Was it left untreated long enough for it to become chronic? Sounds like you spend a lot of time at your vet, maybe it's time for a second opinion? |

Yeah he was diagnosed with Lyme in the fall of 2008 (?) he was negative in the Spring, s what's long enough? He was asymptomatic until he started vomitting. But he is my hypothyroid dog, has always had a very sensitive stomach and most likely has other immune issues. It has been suggested that he might have a pancreatic duct issue. Part of me thinks having come to me with coccidia at 8 weeks didn't help If he eats any grass or anything out of the usual in the yard he starts vomitting, sometimes it just keeps happening. And it would be a fourth opinion? |
I think I just bought at least one new machine for my vet's Kerry, so I feel your pain. The eye surgery Bella just had was more than I ever paid in one visist. My vet calls me by my first name now. I like him, but that would be one expensive friend. It's our 4-legged furry friends that count in the long run. I hope Morgan feels better soon. |
gosh curt and I have been on a first name basis for a couple of years and the receptionist knows my phone number by heart |
Gosh Kerry heaps of things wrong
OK silly question maybe is there anything in the yard plant wise that could make him ill? Eating grass usually upset beforehand so they eat the grass usually to have a chuck. Just a thought on what is in your yard that he might react too. |
well only snow last week
We just came home from the vet and yes he vomitted withinn half an hour. This is getting old. |
Is he on thyroid meds? Maybe they need to be adjusted.
You mentioned a vitamin b shot? Why did they do that? |
Willowsprite wrote: Is he on thyroid meds? Maybe they need to be adjusted.
You mentioned a vitamin b shot? Why did they do that? B vitamins are water soluble, and are easily depleted in times of vomiting or diarrhea. They are added to the IV bags too - called "banana bags" d/t the bright yellow color of the B vits. We use them on humans who come in with ETOH intoxication as well. |
Vit B6 has been used to treat nausea in pregnant women for decades too. Although lots of women with bad morning sickness will tell you it doesnt work.
I dont know if its useful for other types of nausea but if it is then a lack due to vomiting could just increase the nausea as well. |
Have they tested for Giardia? My Golden had it and gave it to my son. Lots of vomiting and no other symptoms. |

Duh, I totally forgot about that. I always think of banana bags as basic electrolytes, sodium, glucose, potassium. surprised they wouldn't just try gravol though.... |
poor Morgan
Him and Rudie should hang out together! |
Poor Morgan Hope he feels better soon.
I feel your pain with the Vet bills. Mine were both in and out of the ER this year. One had to stay ten days and the bill was almost 7 grand Thank God I have insurance. Not only does my Vet and staff know us by first name, so does the ER hospital. Good Luck and hope he feels better. |
