Good for you and Jose'! Congratulations! |
LOL - couldn't just train forever..
Glad you took the plunge, Marilyn. Rally's whole premise is that it's a fun, doable way to start a dog (or restart) in competition. Most of the time the dogs are really ready, it's the poor human on the end of the lead that is terrified to actually enter and walk in the ring! One more leg, and you have a new title!! |
Congrats! |
Way to go Marilyn!!!! |
Very nice work, indeed!!!

All the dogs I've finished in conformation......and put a CD on one of my dogs in 4 trials, placing in the ribbons each time, over the last 13 years & I was totally nervous!!!!! I am very good at listening to a judge tell me what to do, just didn't think I could read the signs & walk & handle the dog all at the same time. Where I train they really don't train us in like a "run thru" for obedience. They train us in all these little movements & when all put together they make for a nice looking performance. The lady is an AKC Obedience & Rally judge with one of the top ranked Goldens in the country. She has been telling me for a long time "Trust your dog!" So I said to myself (& to some other friends I train with that were there competing too) that I guess what I had to do was go in there, read the signs & NOT look back at my dog to see how or what he was doing. By now he should be able to follow my cues. And we did it! It felt SO good to be back in the performance ring. I love breeding & conformation but I really, really, love the bond I get training for performance. |
Good job, Marilyn & Jose' ! |
Congrats, Marilyn and Jose!! |

That was my fear.....That Heart or Pearl would do great!!! And I would messup!!!! But it is soooo fun!!!!!! I just love Rally!!! Pearl has her RA, but I am not taking her onto to EX due to the Cushings..BUT Heart will begin in advanced...this spring!!! Congratulations to you!!! Keep us posted !!!! |
Woo hoo! Double congrats! |
Congratulations Marilyn and Jose.
It is really rewarding the bonding that happens when training for performance. We sort of just flew by the seat of our pants too for our first Novice entry at Nationals in 2008. It was so much fun. Now I am just trying to get back the dog I had before he realized that he was off leash in the ring. We only had a great run our first trial being off leash. It has been a bumpy ride since then. |
CONGRATS! |
Way to go! That is how Murph got his CGC..... Took the punge and passed first time! Maybe I should throw Finn in there Can a deaf dog get a CGC since they are not allowed to compete in AKC events? Anybody know? Marty says yes. |
Marty is right - a deaf dog can test for the CGC.
I'm not sure about other therapy dog groups, but they are NOT allowed to test with TDI (Therapy Dogs International). I'm sure it boils down to a liability risk issue - if the dog was startled. |
Well, that sucks.....
I wanted to work in therapy with him and Georgie |
You can check with some of the other groups, maybe they allow it. |
WTG Marilyn!!! Jose is more than just a pretty face |
Way to go Marilyn and Josie |
