Everyone talks about dingleberries but Bella has something a little different. The hair around her urethra tends to get wet when she pees and I really noticed it last night. Should that hair be trimmed?? it is only about an inch long but I would rather not have to deal with the smell. Does anyone else notice this issue on their girls. I don't thnk that she has an infection or anything it is just that pee smell that I notice when brushing her. How close can I clip that area? |

If she's not in show coat, and even if she is, you can usually trim the hairs short...just don't nick her! Boys need the same attention. Don't forget to do a little wash down there from time to time. Doesn't take long and I always get the "Hey!!" look. |
Never having a femal dog before, I am glad to see this question Exactly what do you use to clean the area? My poor baby has a funny color to her vagina area...doesn't smell or anything but sort of "yellowy"...Is that normal? |
Shave the area with a #10 blade. You are going to have to pick it up & movie it to get into the all the nooks & crannies. Then sprinkle with something like Gold Bond Powder. I usually do this on a regular basis with my girls & boys that are being shown because I am grooming them all the time & it is just 1 step in the process. What I need to remember is to do my clipped down ones more often. I usually don't think of it until I see them "cleaning" that area. |
