I've heard a lot of songs the past week, different artists doing different classic and not-so-classic songs. What holiday songs do you enjoy, if you enjoy them at all? I'm partial to "Please, come home for Christmas" and "Last Christmas". |
|
My favorite religious carol is "O Holy Night" preferably sung solo by a male. I have 2 favorite secular Christmas songs "Feliz Navidad" and "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas."
I love Christmas music! |
I'll pathetically just repeat my answer from last year. I do love oldies, but lately I find myself enjoying more hip/rockin' type Christmas tunes ...like the ones they have on Home Alone. Jingle Bell Rock and Winter Wonderland are just a few that come to mind. |
Santa Baby - by Eartha Kitt has to be one of my favorites for some reason..But I like a lot of them - my favorite probably depends on the day and my mood. I like Christmas Island, I'll be home for Christmas and anyof the sonds from Holiday Inn Apparently my tastes are eclectic at best.
Can't stand the Christmas shoes song and am sick of Little Drummer Boy. |
You know... if I had to mention what Holiday songs I dislike it would definatley have to be "I want a hippopatomus for Christmas".
You know, I still can't tell if that's a little boy or girl... and that kinda creeps me out |
I L-O-V-E Santa baby and I'll be coming home for christmas!! I love having these songs in my head now too. |
My favourite has always been 'O Holy Night' too. Ru doesn't appreciate me singing it to him though |
The Christmas Waltz. The Sinatra version. sigh. |

My two favorites are probably O Holy night and I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus. There are many many more that I like though...I'll be home for Christmas.... |
Joy To the World is my absolute favorite. |
Santa Claus is coming to town.
AND we get him first |
We played the Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers from their Christmas special over 20 yrs. ago for our grandaughter Zoe who is 18 mths...much to her parents likes she LOVES it and dances all over the place...loving their baby they reluctantly bought it and play it for her. My favorite is Celine Dion's Christmas album. |

I totally agree!! We have seen them twice and they put on a phenomenal show. |
Hands down-- "O Holy Night". Male solo is best. Some people really butcher it!
"Winter Wonderland" , "No place like home for the Holidays" and "White Christmas" (good ole' Bing) rank pretty high too... |
We have been to see Manheim Steamroller and Trans Siberian Orchestra a couple of times. Great shows! They are both outstanding. They really have some excellent arrangments of many of the old songs in addition to their own stuff. I can remember being in the hospital prior to Christmas 12 years ago and I had a "Walkman" loaded up with everything Manheim put out. Long and lonely hours in a hospital bed were made much more enjoyable through music. I'm still searching for that radio station who is willing to play Christmas music 365 days a year! TSO has a terrific "Light Show" during their concerts and their "Hard Rock" influence is great. And let us not forget "Frosty the Snowman. As a Snowman collector (well over 300) I love that song. |
