Congrats on your new puppy! There are lots of things here you can read, it will give you some ideas. OES are VERY smart clowns who love everyone. They are also pretty easy to train if you are consistent. Is yours a boy or girl? what will you name it? Please post pictures we all like those. Good luck and have lots of fun |
yeah i will buy a male but i don't know what are some good names for oes... |
well i have another question , since i'm getting a male will he grow really big?and do you guys think is better to train your puppy by yourself or is better like a trainer?....i just want him to learn the basic stuff like sit , stay , down etc...etc...
Yours, Maria |
I highly suggest going to a training class or hiring a trainer. OES are extremely smart but extremely stubborn. They seem to use logic and want to know why they have to do something rather than just doing it because we told them to. Professional training can come in very handy especially if you have no experience with this breed.
Let me know what part of Pennsylvania you are in and I can probably provide you with some training centers in your area. Another thing; if you are in PA, please make sure that you are getting a puppy from a reputable breeder. Pennsylvania can be a terrible place to buy a dog because of the puppy mills. (Mostly Amish run.) Any breeder should be carefully researched! I have a few names of breeders in our area to stay away from, if you PM me I can tell you who they are and what problems they have had in the past. |
thank for everything!! and i won't be buying my puppy here in PA i will be buying it in Kansas City....i couldn't find any breeders here |
Hi Maria,
You can check out the OESCA (Old English Sheepdog of America) website. We have a pretty informative pamphlet you can read. The website is: http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamerica.org/ Click on "Breed Information" and go to "Breed Pamphlet". There's a lot of good information for you to read. Sincerely, Tarja Peters |
