Roll over is tough since she stops half way and just wants me to rub her tummy. Any solutions for that one??? I have only had Bella for 2 months but she is very smart and is happy trying. I am running out of ideas to show her what I want her to do. |

rolling over.......... Have a treat on the side of her nose, in her line of vision~~~ while she is on her side and slowly move the treat over to the other side. As she follows the treat, her body will slowly flip over..all the while saying ROLL OVER!!!! After a couple of time, she WILL get it!!!
Go to Sleep...while Bella is in a down, say go to sleep and lure a treat to get her on her side with her head down. When she gets to this positiion say...""good to go to sleep"" ( this takes the place of the BANG! your DEAD, which is not politically correct nowadays... ) Pearl will lay on her back with her paws straight up in the air when I tell her to go to sleep!!! It is a hoot... Say your prayers... have Bella sit in front of a stationery chair (you don't want it to move and scare her!)... Say.."Paws UP" (you may have to help her a few times till she gets that you want sitting with her paws on the chair.) Take a treat and place it under her paws, between her front legs. When you do this, Bella's nose (head) will drop and she will look like she is praying.. Stretch or bow....You will have to hold her back end up with your arm as you tell her to bow..the treat is lured down to the floor while you are supporting her rump..you can also reinforce this trick whenever she stretches naturally after sleeping!!! I love teaching my dogs tricks!!! It impresses the clients we visit during our pet therapy!!! Additional tricks....crawl, balance ball or treat on the nose and catch it, circle, retrieve specific things like your keys, or a glove, sit up pretty (not an easy trick for a dog with no tail to balance with), give high five, yawn on command ( very long training for this one)).. Good luck and keep us posted on the progress of Bella, the trick dog!!!! |
thanks. I will start my work tonight. We always try to work on a few for 5 minutes after we get back from our jog. She seems a little quieter and ready to focus rather then bouncing all around me. |
