After giving the dogs flea baths putting on the Frontline and treating the house, the dogs were still scratching like mad. Off to the Vet. He checked them over...even getting on the floor to look at the undercarriage, he said the fleas are under control. BUT they seem to have scratched themselves into skin irratation. The Vet gave them a shot(Garfunkel let loose with his anal glands at that point )and gave us some pills to give twice a day(oh joy). Good news!!!! Garfunkel is down to 72lbs from 80lbs and Simon is down to 75lbs from 80lbs. My boys are not so fluffy. Still a little work to do there though. My GRAND TOTAL: $195 |

How soon after the bath did you put on the Frontline? You need to wait at least 48 hours after bathing to apply it for it to work properly. Hopefully the fleas will be gone now! |

Good point... I think that is where Merial(Frontline) tried to compete with Bayer(Advantage) Advantage can be applied after a bath(when dry/water based) Frontline you have to wait... it is oil based and works with oils in the skin! I actually forgot that whole concept... I typically bathe and wait a few days anyway but, that is a huge point! Maybe that is why Frontline is not working as well for so many people! They used to say wait 72 hours after a bath..they may need to remarket on the best idea for the dog.... Thanks Marilyn for pointing that out! |
