The requirements are that the dog is healthy, has a universal blood type, is over 50 lbs, on heartworm and flea/tick preventative year round and has a calm disposition. The benefits are that you get a years supply of heartgard and frontline as well as some other free goodies... plus your dog's donation could save another dog's life! The blood bank here has teamed up with Greyhound rescue as 70% of greyhound's have universal blood opposed to 30% of most other breeds. Anyone have a donor dog? I am thinking of signing Rudie up, if nothing else because Heartgard is expensive for a dog his size |

The benefit is saving a dogs life
My dogs are not regular donors but, alot of vets know I will take any of our healthy dogs to do the job if needed. That is wonderful that Merial offers that to donors I will have to look into that but, we don't use Heartgard... some nice free Frontline would be great! I use Interceptor or Sentinel depending on the flea season! I am going to have to hit up the Novartis rep with that! |
