SANDERS CARAMEL FROSTING 1 lb. caramels 1/2 c. hot water 1 c. sweet butter or margarine 1 c. confectioners sugar Place caramels and water in a double boiler. Heat and stir til smooth and creamy. Cool. Place butter in a mixing bowl, add sugar and mix at low speed to a smooth paste. Mix at medium speed adding caramel mixture. |

Now that does look good!! It might not make the cake but rather go on ice cream or graham crackers.
My fav............cream cheese frosting, not the canned cr**, the real stuff. As much as I like carrot cake (probably the only cake I like), I often wonder if it's the icing I'm really enjoying. OK, German Choc Cake frosting: coconut and pecans come in a close second. A real French butter cream........the one that takes longer to make, yeah it's up there too. |

I HAVE to try the one you posted because it sounds delishhhhhhhhhh and I love caramel!! I am pretty fond of one of my chocolate frostings and I think I have the best cream cheese one w/orange in it, but I find most to be pretty identical. Just about adding the right amounts, and knowing which ones crack if not stored right, etc. Thanks again for that recipe b/c that would go so nice w/one of my cakes!!! Mmmm... never tired of frosting |
