This is a recipe you just have to know your crockpot and be good at eyeballing b/c I don't know exact measurements w/the hot sauce. I wouldn't say I used a bottle at all even though I only used 3 med size chicken breasts. This is NOT a recipe you can let go all day. If you do, the chicken will be mushy and dry. No exceptions. You can try cooking the breasts in chicken broth the first half of the time and adding the hot sauce when you come home though! I cooked mine for 4 hrs on Low, added the butter and a tad more hot sauce and let that soak up for another hour. More was unnecessary. This takes SO much better day 2 and 3 as it's had time to soak into the chicken. * 4 boneless chicken breasts * 1 bottle buffalo hot sauce (franks, louisiana, etc), divided * 1/2 (1 oz) pkg dry ranch salad dressing mix * 2T butter * hoagie bread Put chicken in crock pot. Eyeball amount of sauce, I put enough to wet the chicken but not cover completely. Maybe 2/3 bottle. Then add the ranch dressing mix. Cook until you can shred the chicken 4-5 hrs. Once cooked and you shred it with 2 forks, add butter and a little more hot sauce (eyeball, maybe 1/4 bottle). Let that sit for another 1-2 hrs. Add ranch to your sandwich, and melt mozz cheese to the sammie, and it'll taste so much better than a restaurant buffalo chicken sandwich! Note: This is hit or miss depending on your cook time. We've made this 4 times and the first time was a total miss I cooked it too long and adding more sauce just made it taste salty. Second time was good but perfected amounts by third time. Now I think it makes great sandwiches for the week! I've also used the leftovers to put on a buffalo chicken pizza! |
