$10 ????? Ten dollars per pack! Ten bucks! Really? How much is a carton of cigarettes in NY? $100? Do they get that much or do people just mail order it in? |

Everything is a better deal in MN - even smokes.
Todd smokes , so I asked him. He pays $50/carton. I know they are cheaper than this in MO, because friends from here in MN had us buy a bunch when we were down there for Sheepiepalooza last spring! |
I think it depends on WHAT you smoke...A carton of Winstons is $37.00....Virginia Slims are $52.00/////GO FIGGURE!!!!!! |

The Marlboro Light 100's are what Todd gets...... |
DH smokes too He goes to the Indian reservation to buy them - He pays $16.50 a carton for their generic brand - No taxes. At least he's not bankrupting us. |

yeah - perhaps carl kruger doesn't track cars going in and coming out. |
Last Christmas Eve (2008) I paid $10 for a pack of smokes in Chicago, so I got news for ya.......New York is just catching up. Chicago (Cook County) has the highest taxes in the country. Last time I bought cigarettes (in May) they were close to $6 a pack. |
I'm just happy that Virginia, the Land of Tobacco, is finally going smoke-free in restaurants starting Dec 1!! Although there have been news stories on how some restaurants aren't going to comply |

Wow, I didn't know some states were still allowing that in restaurants. Even our bars are smoke free! |
Here it depends what store and what kind. Players for example are about 11 bucks a pack. Cheaper brands are 6.50 and a carton from the reserve is 12 dollars. |
I absolutely love the smoke free bar thing. It's that way here in Arizona, its the first time we've ever seen it, and its great! Not that I have been to any bars here, but when hubby was here for school before I visited him and we went to a karaoke bar to play pool. Usually going to a bar leaves me with a very sore throat, but not here! Even though he was smoking at that time, John thought it was great too, because he always smoked outside, no matter where we were.....and that way I wasn't exposed to the secondhand smoke directly. And I thought ciggies were expensive here...they are nearly $7 a pack off post.....thats one of the big reasons hubby quit smoking. |

What about "Export A" and Marlboro? |
Exports are higher priced like Players. We don't have Marlboro's here. Those are American, they smell HORRIBLE LOL
Not that any smoke smells good exactly but as a smoker most of us in Canada think your smokes smell like pot. Nasty. I'm actually trying to quit now, something I never thought I'd do in a million years. |

I'm from California where bars and restaurants went smoke free before I was old enough to go in them (well, I guess not restaurants--I could go in those), so moving to VA was a shock. There have been all sorts of 'they're taking away my personal freedoms' complaints. Let them complain |
the last time I was in California I could not smoke outside of a restaurant and the biggest surprise I could not smoke on the beach! The whole thing is such a pain. Today I am 6.5 weeks without a cigarette. Life is easier. |
Actually not a bad isea - for the safety of the wildlife - beaches should be smoke free, those butts end up everywhere. |
