In fact there is a big uproar oversea's right now, as one of the guarddogs 'sniffed' a Koran, and the Muslims now want the dog killed as it 'degraded' the Koran. |

It surprises me too, as they dont hold dogs in any regard at all.
But then again if you look at the FCI, which pakistan is affiliated with there is also Pakistani dog show judges, judging around the world also. So go figure that one too. |
I am actually not surprised. Think about Pakistan's roots - they were part of the British Empire. My experience in countries that have British Empire roots is one of the "legacies" the British left is a dog fancy. I was amazed to find dog shows and active dog clubs in places like Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa. When you talk to the members, their beginnings go back to the British rule.

That's crazy. Speaking of Daegu, my korean cousin will make his first trip to the US next month to see his bestest friend (me). Very excited! First person outside of my mom to ever travel outside of Korea. My mom always tells me he knows how to speak English now (always has to some degree), yet every time I get a call from him... there are crickets chirping b/c I have no idea what he's saying. |

Actually the dog might have been onto something. In a society that will send it's children onto a bus wearing bombs, why not carve up a Koran and pack it with explosives? |
It's insane that they would have dog shows as much as they are HATED and treated over there. At night, you could look through night vision and see packs and packs ........and PACKS of dogs in the street because no one wants them. Mr. J said you would shoot someone and the dogs would run over to eat that person because they were so hungry. All the soldiers used to talk about how the dogs LOVED americans but not the iraqi's there. They would bite and run like hell from them but for some reason... knew the smell of an American was different and would come straight to you. |
Our scent is partially determined by what we eat. So unless foreign forces eat local faire for months and use the same hygiene techniques, they will smell different. |
I think this is one reason i like showing down here to FCI Judges. We get them from all over the world. In Mx Cty we had judges from Taiwan and South Africa as well as South America. I honestly have to say that we were more impressed with the judges from the Asian countries than the S. American ones. At least until i was told a statement this past week at a show.
At the last shows the S. American judges didn't lay hands on the dogs in the group rings. just went down the line and pointed at 1-4 place and that was that. THAT QUICK. People were complaining all around. Then, we were discussing this and someone told me the following: When a dog get's to Group, it is an insult from that judge to the Judge that did Breed judging and spend time going over each and every dog as they have already been discovered to have 2 testicles and the correct bite in order to be in the Group ring at that point. That if that judge cannot tell which has the most breed type to be in that ring they have no business judging. I thought about this a while before saying, you know what, your right. Still it just didn't seem correct but that is right. Think about it. And we were talking the equiv. of Westminster at Expocan Mx. |
