already and she's only 1yr and 9 months old). Normally she is given novolexin but this time they put her on bioclav for 14 days. She is only half way through the treatment but she is showing other symptoms I don't like. She has thrown up on 2 occasions while eating her lunch meal (we feed 3 times daily) and today at lunch she is just not interested in eating at all. We are taking her to the vet again this evening--when they don't have interest in eating it scares the heck out of me! Just thought maybe someone else has had their dog on Bioclav and maybe that is upsetting her tummy. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I don't post on here very often, but wanted to let eveyone know I read posts most everyday and treasure eveyones stories and great information. Thanks Jill |

Owen just got over a UTI and he was treated with ciproflaxin. That's usually the standard prescription for a UTI from our vet. Why did they decide to change the medication? Was she not responsive to the novolexin? |
Just got back from the vet and Macy's physical exam went well but we are
doing a blood profile just to be on the safe side. She had been on Bioclav once before for a UTI and had no side effects from it. This time she is to be on it for 14 days due to this being her fourth bout of it. Bloodwork results will be ready in the morning. Hopefully the loss of appetite and nausea is just from the antiobiotic. |
that its just her tummy. |
Just got word from the vet-all bloodwork normal but the urea was in the
high range, hers being 9.5 and the high range being 9.6. So probably just the meds-YAY!!! Will have her blood work checked again in a couple of weeks. |
That's good news
From my experience with humans (nurse), GI upset is the #1 issue with many antibiotics. Especially the ones for UTI's. |
