I thought I might make homemade Granola and load it with dried fruit and nuts and use a really good Maple syrup as the sweetener . As well, I'm trying Gourmet white and milk chocolate drizzled Popcorn ( ingredients are white chocolate, milk chocolate, caramel, cashews and craisins ) I bought some tall ,clear plastic canisters with beautifully decorated lids. I think the popcorn will look fun and festive . I'm also taking homemade Nuts and Bolts as a hostess gift to some of the parties accompanied by a good bottle of wine. Is anyone else making anything ? I'm looking for ideas ??????? I know there are many great cooks on the site . Like all of you I'm pressed for time . |

I'm doing homemade as well, but I don't have anything creative to share that you haven't already named I posted a lot of what I did last year but that's several pages back. |
My back still hurts for the 2 days spent making food that was then FROZEN. We (church)will sell it around the holidays with baking instructions on the top. Granted, not something you can give as a wrapped gift, but more like taking to a housewarming, next door neighbors, etc.
We have yet to make the baklava, but that can be frozen after baking and saucing. Just saying, don't get stuck in the popcorn, trail mix, jam, cookies rut.....though all very tasty and thoughtful.......you can do other things if freezer space allows. |
If you have any kids on your list hot chocolate mix is
a great gift. Really cheap to make too. I got big paint cans - new and clean - and I put in a big bag of mix. I printed a lable I made with directions and a attached a paint can opener to the handle. Add some cheap mugs for the kids, and you have a great gift. I actually etched each mug with the child's name, but you could skip that. There are many recipes - and I don't think this is the one I used but here you go! 3 cups nonfat dry milk 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup cocoa powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon (optional) 1 cup dried mini marshmallows dir: add 1/4 cup to boiling water, stir well Shellie |
I always make and ship pounds and pounds of Christmas cookies. They go as far as New York and California. However this year, our new home's oven is so small, that a standard sized cookie sheet cannot fit in it. Its the thing I hate most about our house. Anyone know where I can buy small sized baking sheets? |
I have all sizes and I know I got a few of them from amazon. I try there first for everything. |
Ohhh good idea! I'm knitting some gifts this year, so I'll probably make some bread to go along with them. Cheddar/onion seems to be my most successful so I'll make a ton of those!
Dave's parents have firends that make chex mix every year and it is amazinggggg, I'm a big fan of food gifts |
I get my grandchildren and we make a project every year....then they have something for all the grandparents and aunts and uncles.....I did this with my children.........canned goods and homemade cookies and breads are also nice....I have also wished someone would give me some...but that never works |
My brother in-law LOVES bacon, so I bought him some bacon-flavored salt and will be gifting it with homemade peanut butter and bacon cookies and a jar of homemade bacon jam. I have not tried either recipe yet but found them on the internet and think he will love them. Me? - not so much.... |
I made Strawberry mango jam, Blueberry Almond jam, Candy apple jelly, Orange Plum jam, Blackberry jam, Cherry Hazlenut jam. Cherry Almond jam, Banana Jam. and Banana Hazlenut jam, Strawberry banana jam.
I will make mini sweet breads and send them with the jams. |
