The bank back-traced the transactions and discovered that a marketing list had been released and somehow the debit/credit card numbers HAD NOT BEEN REMOVED. They said the source was Cherrybrook, which makes sense: The orders that had been fraudulently placed were for 'colon cleanse' products, and I had just bought probiotics for Loki online at Cherrybrook a few days previous. This is worrisome - Has anyone else had any issues or do you think this was a fluke? I've been buying from Cherrybrook online for years and this is the first time I've had this kind of problem. |

I think it's interesting that your banker would say specifically where the fraudulent purchases were coming from. I've had problems with someone getting a hold of our Bank of America card #'s twice in the last year.
1st time they made small purchases to some type of dating service & some bars on the Caribbean (too bad I wasn't there..) and the 2nd time just in September were slightly larger purchases and weird things kept being delivered to my house. Like Microsoft Software tutorials (I have a Mac) Energy Snacks, jewelry & Magazine subscriptions. My card was replaced each time and was not responsible for any $$$. It is very unnerving though. I have used Cherrybrook in the past but I know they didn't have my card # for the last fraud activity. Glad the card companies are staying on top of it. I personally would call Cherrybrook & ask for an explanation. They have been around for a very long time and I think they owe it to their customers to get the word out that their information has been breached. |
You're right - It's unusual that the bank could figure this out. Cherrybrook was the only online vendor I deal with who had that card # - I don't use my debit card anywhere else. I am checking this with them. Still, it's disturbing. |
I hope not - I have used thenm a few times lately. |
Sorry to hear this. I just placed on order Friday from Cherrybrook.... |
I have ordered many times without a problem BUT, have had alot
of issues lately with my card number getting out! (not with Cherrybrook, haven't ordered in a whille) |
