Is Billy stupid, clever or just mad???
Well Billy Bear MIschief is now 5 months old, massively big and getting on really well. This week our other 2 dogs arrived back from Spain, Blue, another old english and Pepsi, german shepherd mix. Now things are going quite well between all the dogs as this is the first time that they've met Billy and Billy them. But Billy being just a pup and wanting to play all the time, the girls are not bothered and I think just want to settle down into their new surroundings. But the problem is, is that Billy is just constantly barking at them all the time. Blue tells him off and so is Pepsi now, but Billy just isnt taking any notice. I don't know whether he's just stupid, just not taking any notice and think he's IT or just not reading the signals the others are giving him. Anyone got any tips on how to stop him from barking at them and to help them all get along together. I'd like for us to be 1 happy family. Blue is now 6 years old and Pepsi 5 and r both just that bit smaller than Billy. Not sure if they feel a bit theatened by him or not. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks. |

If you read between your lines you'll see your answer  He's a male  The boys always think everyone wants to play all the time.  The girls will let him know in their own way that enough is enough & he'll catch on. I doubt very much your girls are intimidated by him. Majority of the time the girls rule. |
Billy is also only still 5 months old, still the silly pupper brains in them even though he is a big boy. 
Let the other two reprimand him, eventually they will have enough of his carry on and take action.
Billy is a typical annoying puppy, wanting to play and he will eventually learn from the older dogs, when they get fed up with his overexictement, they will put him in his place when it becomes too annoying for them.
I would at the moment just let all 3 of them work it out so as the older ones settle in a pecking order is established between all 3 dogs.  |
| Thanks for all ur help. At least I know now that there isnt anything I should be doing in particular apart from what I'm already doing and just letting them get on with it. They've only been together for 3 days so I suppose it will take a time for them to sort themselves out. Just thought I'd better ask sooner rather than later.

| Well its been a week since the dogs were brought together. Billy is still constantly barking at Blue. The only time its quiet is when Billy is asleep. The minute he wakes, the barking starts. Blue does snap back after a while but this is not deterring Billy, he just goes back for more.
Now onto Pepsi. First it was the odd bark at Pepsi, and Pepsi just showing teeth and growling under her breath. Now Billy just bites her neck and ears, Pepsi is showing more teeth and growling and barking back and turns into quite an argument, but still Billy cant be told and just carries on. What is he up to? Will this all eventually stop and they all calm down? or is there worse to come. When we are in the car, theres no barking or biting. When they are running around the fields, no barking, and just the odd bite into Pepsi. Now Billy keeps trying to clear his throat as if he has a sore throat from barking too much, and also must be getting Pepsi's hairs down the back of his throat. Is this all normal? and what does it mean now that Billy is biting Pepsi? Any more suggestions, greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
