The trick this week?? She has 'discovered' the overhead lighting in most of the rooms in the house. She prances around like she doesn't have a care in the world and then suddenly she will notice a ceiling fixture or a chandelier and she lowers her head and growls. At first we thought maybe she had seen a ghost becuase she was glancing up furitively and barking and growling at the ceiling, then we put two and two together. And Voila! She's a nut! So now we have to calm her down and convince her it will be 'alright' and that nasty old ceiling fixture isn't out to get her. Silly sheepie. Up. |

Aww that's too cute. Do you live in an old house? Maybe the ghosts just like to hang out around the ceiling fixtures, mmm? lol |
It always amazes me what silly things these dogs get crazy about but it's usually pretty funny. I bought a 4' ceramic sheepie to put on my fireplace, in honor of Daisy she has a hat with daisies on it. All 4 dogs barked and went crazy when I brought it in the house, Luke would run up to it and kind of growl and shake his head. After a few days they got used to it and now could care less. |
Sometimes Clyde gets so intent on a bone that he's chewing, he forgets where he is and everyone around him. I'll go to get up and, watchdog that he is, jumps to attention and starts barking at me, like he's never seen me before. Then I tell him, hey, it's me, and he just goes back to the bone again. Someone suggested maybe a ghost follows me and that's what he sees. I think he's just a little wacky! |
I love the nature of the OES, everything seems to be expressed in a really big way with these pups. Such personality, they can turn even the simple and silly into a smile for the day! |
Are any of your fixtures fans? It would be so funny to see how she would react to a ceiling fan. I can just picture her running around in circles barking at it!

Ironically the only fixture she does not bark at (yet) is the ceiling fan in my son's room. She has also pinpointed the smoke detectors and barks and growls at them too. We are racking our brains trying to remember what may have spooked her, but we are coming up empty, it really just came out of the blue. She barks and growls with the same tone at other items like the baby gate and a cutting board we lean up in the corner of the kitchen, but both of those items have come crashing down at some time or another and made a racket. The ceiling fixtures have stayed put.
Loopy Sheep Dog! ( wouldn't trade her for the world!) Up. |
LOL, too funny. They definitely have their own characteristics |
