Does anyone know where I can find a very simple free standing, single tub sink that will fit a Sheepie? I found numerous double sink in the appropriate size. |

I can't think of anysink that will accomodate a full grown sheepie. But if you look into a regular grooming tub, that might serve the purpose for your husband and would definately accomodate a sheepie for bathing. I am working on a utility/grooming room myself...You really don't need all tha big a room but definately need grooming tub, hot and cold water, and an electrical outlet for drying...table would be nice too and you can use it to fold laundry! |
You can buy a 4 ft. tub at Lowes, thats where mine came from. |

DO you have to lift the dogs in? |
If only you lived in the Uk. You could have this wonderful bath that my two are pictured in!!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0485335380 I had the worktop fitted to go over one of the crates beside the tub so I can get the dog straight from the bath onto the worktop (with a rubber mat on) ready to dry and brush again. I intend to get a ramp to help me get them up but they are happy enough to get their front feet up so I can just help the back end up |
Yes - I want more pictures of the underneath of your set up PLEASE!! It looks very nice and doable. |
No, I put the grroming table next to it, they get on table and step into tub. My tub is built up so I am standing straight up as I bathe the boys. |

Absolutely |

I'll take some photos from a different angle so you can see it better! I have to say the bath is a bit deeper than I thought it would be and I have a feeling that with a struggling sheepie I might topple into it head first but I'll see how I get on. Maybe I'll need a step...... |
What about something like this?
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... 30473430-2 You could have it elevated, with some steps. And its black, so it won't show splatters as much. |
thats nice, but you could have a real bath tub, and also the set up underneath it so you could stand up and bathe, for half of the cost of just that tub. |

Yes, it is a regular bathtub, except is shorter in lenght |
my grooming/mud room is also being built as we speak! I bought my tub back in February, and decided that a stainless steel dog bath could double as a utility sink, instead of making a utility sink double as a bath. We had a professional groomers show in town, so I was able to buy a display model at a reduced rate rather than pay the full price. Its been sitting in my garage, waiting until our renovations got us to the point that it was ready to be installed. We aren't quite there yet, but getting close; the drywall is up, plumbing installed, and the new door to the yard and window arrived today!!!
We should all post photos of our mud rooms/ grooming rooms!!! |
okay; that ebay auction has the CUTEST photos of sheepies!!!! |
Went in the farm store today. I'm thinking a 24x24x48 steel stock tank. Cut and install drain in the bottom and install on a platform. Can't beat the cost and it looks kinda cool. |

I think some of them have bottom drains don't they? |

Around here they make poly ones as well. And, they already have a drain hole in them! here's one I found on a quick online search - http://www.agrisupply.com/product.asp?pn=39391 but our local stores (Fleet Farm and Tractor Supply Stores) sell them too. |

I took a hard look at the poly, makes sense and is durable. The steel has a better look. It looks like this only 2 feet deep instead of one. http://www.dogpools.com/equipment/galva ... -2-2-4.php |

I'm not sure how the dogs would like the metal feel and sound when they are in it? |

I found some great cut to size tub liner at the janitorial store for the bottom to eliminate the steel on paw feeling. Then tried it on for size before it's installed this weekend. Seems the flock are ok with it. They all gave me the same disgusted bath time look when being placed in the tub. I must admit the clincher was my strange sense of humor seems to enjoy having a stock tank for my flock of sheep. |

I'm sure they were just thrilled with your new "gift" Post some pictures, it sounds like a good project. Maybe some sheep art work next for the walls?? |
Here are photos of the project at the half way point. As you can see the sheetrock in the new section of the mudroom has to be finished then I can put the finishing touches on.
I changed from a 24" to a 12" tub and glad I did. When I have a few more $$'s I will change the faucet to the type seen in resturant kitchens, high curved neck with a spring load. Around the tile will be wainscotting to match the cabinet base and a 10" shelf. The sticker will be removed and the tub will be painted with a silver hammered steel. The bottom of the tub will be coated with a self leveling poly. As you can see, even though we haven't finished the project, it has had a maiden voyage. I'm happy with the outcome. |
That looks really nice - I love the green tile
What is the height from the floor to the lip of the tub? |
got sheep wrote: That looks really nice - I love the green tile
What is the height from the floor to the lip of the tub? It is 37.5". It is built for my height so I'm not leaning over all the time when washing the dogs. The cabinet has doors so the entire space under the tub is storage. You can never have too much storage. |
I use a poly tub that is actually a feed trough. Made by rubbermiad. It sits on 2 sawhorses, has a drain in the bottom & Jim built a slatted board for the inside bottom so the dogs aren't standing in water & they don't feel like they are slipping. When I am done with it.....we lift it up & it hangs from hooks in the ceiling of the grooming/laundry room (during cold weather). When the weather get nice, we move it to the garage & it stores in some big cupboard built to house all my dog stuff. Either way I place a grooming table next to it so the dogs can walk in & walk out. |
