Laika is limping

So Laika is favouring her left back leg. Now it isn't all the time I have been keeping an eye on her. It is occasionally. I put pressure from toes to the hip and she didn't react. Plus next thing I know she is racing around the yard. Has anyone come across this? I am going to see if it continues after today. It was a holiday weekend. It seems so infrequent.

without seeing it it could be structurala, or a pulled or torn muscle. When Marley pulled her cruciate her favoring it was so infrequent I almost thought I was seeing things - we video taped her to confirm my suspicions.

What I ultimately learned is that my regular vet had the attitude - let her do what she feels like. Eventually she ended up in rehab and the physical therapist had a different idea, so it may not be as simple as a vet visit.
We went through something similiar over the summer with Bella. One minute she was racing around the yard chasing her brother and the next she was running to me with the back leg in the air. I checked the paw for anything that may ahve gotten in there or stuck between the toe pads. She was hoping on three legs for a few minutes and then was ready to run again. But she came back limping again.

Ended up she had pulled a muscle and I forget what its called but it is known in the human world as a runner's injury. Despite her wanting to, we had to keep her from running for several weeks. She took some anti inflamatories and a double dose of Synovi chews ( glutosomine ). We did not allow any strenous running for about 4 weeks then started back slowly.

She is now happily back to chasing her brother around the property at rapid speed. I think she is a greyhound in a sheepdog body

I would rest that leg a week to ten days at least. If there is a slight sprain or muslce pull and she keeps running on it, she may make it worse.Good luck and hope she's better.
Ditto.

Betsy had a cruciate strain. She ran around and was fine and then would limp, then she would run around again. Off we went to the vet that same day. The outcome: X-rays under anesthesia, then anti-inflammatory meds and a light tranquilizer every 12 hours to help her endure crate rest for 6 looooooooong weeks. And that was a strain, not a tear. I felt like we dodged the bullet.

Good luck!
Yesterday, I came home from work and Jackson was in the crate. FYI- He has the option to walk around in my room, but sometime feel more comfortable inside the crate. Anyway, he comes out limping on his right leg. I massaged his legs and hips...still limping. I checked his pads...NOTHING, no crying or anything.... Went to the dog park limping, but started running and jumping like nothing was wrong. Then he starts limping again. He's only 15 mos.

I'm wondering if he needs vitamins for his joints and if so what kind? There are so many out there. Also, supposedly the food he eats is suppose to support joint issues...

Please give some suggestions....Thankyou... 8O This ...it's always something, but I love him very much
I would take him to see a vet. Betsy was about 7 months old when she was injured.
Well Laika is getting checked out tomorrow after work. Hopefully it is just something simple.

Yep 6 weeks is th enorm - we didn't go the crate rest route becaus eshe was a more stable 3 y/o and more want to rest when left alown any way. But she was confined away from the other dogs, only outside on a leash and weeks (months actually) of PT. But we were concerned about her performance career as well.
well Laika goes to the vet tonight after work. Needless to say she isn't limping  But I think I might still take her in and see what they say do that whole maneuver the leg thing which makes me WEAK! I don't want to waste the money on going since she isn't limping but what if... rather go and know

Going to be an expensive month studded winter tires tomorrow. Fly ball class for Langley and a Tricks and games class for Laika. Now a vet appointment arg! Oh and I still need to buy a dog house for the kennel at work. My carpenter quoted me $1000!!! I found one on kijji for 150 just hope it is still available.
