Another Operation for George
About 6 weeks George had blocked anal glands. He had them expressed and a week later we had to go back to the vets to make sure they were ok. Whe we went back they were full again and so he got some antibiotics and they were expressed again. A week later we went back to find they had become infected, and had an abcess whi and he got some stronger antibiotics. I had to increase the fibre in his diet which I did and it seemed to help a bit, however a week later they were still blocked. He went back in to the vets and they sedated him and flushed the glands out and he got more antibiotics. A week later they seemed ok but just to make sure I got another week of antibiotics. I went back to the vets on Wednesday to find his glands were full again and vet again infected. I got yet more antibiotics (stronger again). On Tuesday he is having his glands removed (and since he will be in his other eye operated on too) I wish his was all over for him as although he isn't in pain he definately is uncomfortable. So fingers crossed my little boy will be ok on Tuesday as this will be his 2nd operation this year (the first one he had entropion). I just want him well again! |

| Poor George! Our dog we had when I was growing up had her anal glands removed. I can remember the first few days post op being tough, trying to keep her from dragging her bum, good luck to both of you! |

| Maggie has repeated troubles with one of her glands and I've been thinking about having that operation for her. I hope it goes great for Georgie and that's the end of his surgeries. |

The operational was more complicated than they thought it was going to be as he had an abcess which they had to work around, so he is staying in over night

YEH George is home!  
Hes very sore and it took him a while to settle but hes been asleep for a couple of hours now. He has lots of meds to take for the next few days but the operation looks as though it was a success! Just need to get through the few days and wait for the bruising and swelling to go down. Thanks to everyone for their support (as always!)  |
