Its a collar that actually stretches so your dog can get out of it in case of emergency ( ie, getting stuck on a fence or caught in something which might optherwise strangle your dog). Mine don't wear collar inside but when outside I put one on. However I worry if they can get caught on something when chasing each other and playing. Any thoughts on the collar? |

It seems like it may be along the line of a break-away collar, which is the kind that we use. Break-away collars are designed in a way that if the collar gets caught on something, once a certain level of force is applied it will open up and release from the dogs neck. Break-away collars have a plastic clip that fastens into another plastic piece, sort of akin to a seat belt.
I'm curious to see what this stretch collar is made of. Is it elastic? Would it knot up in the OES coat? |
From the description and from what I can see when I enlarged the picture, it loos like it is some sort of nylon but can stretch fairly wide if it gets caught. I was hoping somewhere here may have actually seen it in person and can tell me more.
Are you satisfied with your break away collar? I never saw one of them "in person" either. |
I haven't used it but I kind of like the look of it. the one thing that I dislike about using the nylon slip collars is that the metal rings sometimes twist in the hair as they move. This looks like maybe it would prevent that from happening a little better? I don't know. I think I want to try one now, though.
Did you watch the video, too? |
For some reason I was unable to load the video.
Also, what size would you order? I assume you would want it to be snug around the neck and not hanging down? I plan to use it only for playing. we use a training collar for training, a walking collar for walking...gee, these dogs ahve more collars than I ahve shoes |

Usually you are given the choice of a collar that is fastened like a belt or the break-away. The vet I used to work for years ago swore by the break-away collars. Of course, I've been very, very fortunate that I haven't been in a position where the collar would need to break away, but I feel confident that if I was in that position, my dogs would be safe. |
