During the day it has been nice so he has been outside a lot. When we go out we put him in his crate. We have the kitchen blocked off so when we do let him in we usually try to watch him closely. But it never seems to fail once we bring him in he pees. So we have been taking him out frequently he I believe is almost trained to pee on command but he sometimes will do a short pee. we come back inside after he has pee'ed and bam big puddle We have been taking him out praising him when he pees outside giving him treats ect.. but he still likes peeing in the kitchen I know he is only 10 weeks we think we are working hard in our potty training but it doesn't seem to be paying off and or seeing any improvements He is really a cutie and want him to spend more time inside with us but he is making it difficult. We end up spending a lot of time outside with him Sorry for the ramble just sleep deprived at this point |

Ahh I remember it well!! I had two pups 6 weeks apart at the same time - I don't think I slept more than two hours straight for three months.
At 10 weeks the best he can do is maybe three hours. He really is trying from the sounds of it to please you - but between the UTI and his age it might be a bit before it gells. On a lighter note we have a 9.5 y/o Irish setter who is on antibiotics, won't stop drinking and peeing all over the house So you puppy pee could be worse. Welcome, and remember they grow up quickly and this too shall pass. |
Thanks
Ah when does the mouthy stage end as well. He tends to knaw on everything, hands, toes, pant legs, sleeves ect... what ever he can get a hold of. Them puppy teeth sure are sharp. At least my two is is getting used to it. He no longer crys when puppy is hanging off his butt or shirt, as long as he doesn't have skin. We do gently correct him on this behavior so hopefully it will pass as well. It is cute to see him playing with all the neighbor hood kids. |
His mouth will be tender for some time so to relieve the pain of new teeth, they chew.....plus he's a puppy. So keep the approved chew objects close at hand and substitute your legs, arms, clothes for an approved chew object. And......yes.....expect a few chewed furniture pieces. I have scratched furniture from a pup 29 years ago.......memories are more than photos. |
If you want to help preserve your hands and fingers from nippy puppy mouth, you can try what I did; replacement. When Asterisk was a puppy, everytime she got nippy, I put a plushie in her mouth. Now, at 17 months, when she gets super excited, she'll scoop a plushie into her mouth and carry it around the house.
For some reason, she prefers to keep all her plushies divided by the front and back doors. First thing she does when I come home, scoop up a plushie. First thing she does when she comes in from the backyard... scoop up a plushie. It really helps, give it a try. |
