1 (29 ounce) can pumpkin puree do not use pie filling 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk 3 eggs 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon salt 3 teaspoons or more cinnamon 1 (18 1/4 ounce) box yellow cake mix 1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped 1 cup butter, melted 1. Preheat oven to 350. 2. In a mixing bowl combine first 6 ingredients until well blended. 3. Pour batter into 13x9" greased pan. 4. Sprinkle DRY cake mix on top, then cover with pecans. 5. Pour melted butter over top. 6. Bake 50-60 minutes or until golden. 7. Serve with any whipped topping. I love cinnamon so I sometimes make cinnamon ice cream and serve it on the side. If I'm short on time or just lazy I whip fresh cream with some 10x, a drop of vanilla, and a bit of cinnamon. |

pumpkin and pecans........yum and easy. |
I'm doing this one friday (again) for after the game.
I'm trying to get away from the labor intensive snacks, meal, and desserts I do every weekend. This will fit in well with the roast and harvest veggies I have planned. Just what I need to eliminate some of the stress I have every weekend! Thanks Shellie |
This sounds very good!! I was going to make my pumpkin fudge for a friend who loves pumpkin, but I think I'll make this along with it, so mr. j can just give it to the entire office. I wish he liked pumpkin as much as I do. This sounds delicious! |
I love pumpkin - this one will get tried here too! |
Thanks Holly. I love pumpkin too.
Maybe I should make this for Tim's birthday next week - he loves pumpkin and pecans. |
OH that does sound good. Hayley and I made a pumpkin pie and an apple pie on Sunday afternoon. But, I really like pumpkin and am always looking for new recipes to use. This one sounds like a keeper. Easy and Delicious. |
LeAnne made this and it was a huge success!
Our family agreed this is a keeper and will get made again...and again... |
I did make this last friday, and it was really good.
It makes an awful lot though. I still have about half of it left! Don't know why we didn't finish it. It's kind of like reverse pumpkin pie ( the crust being on top.) Shellie |
Looks absolutely yummy! Ummmmmmmmmm why is it called a dump cake? |

I believe because you dump everything together to make it. I have made a different dump cake in the past - with cherry pie filling and dry cake mix. Good one too! |
I forgot to post that I had tried this recipe, too. I made it for a cookout we host for our horse club. It was a huge hit. Everyone there raved about it. Definitely a keeper!! |
This recipe isn't quite as dumpy as the cherry pie filling recipe where you truly dump the fruit into the pan then sprinkle the dry mix over top.
Pumpkin recipe requires some mixing for the eggs, milk, sugar and pumpkin. I did it in the food processor.......first time I started with the milk, oooops, the milk drained out the bottom. Second time I added the milk as I whizzzed it. Perfect. |

Do you have the recipe for the cherry pie dump cake? I had it, but lost it. |

That's so odd, I don't recall ever having pineapple in cherry dump cake. |
cooks down I assume as it shows up in several other fruit recipes. Personally I just do the cherries only. |
