My baby has just turned one and it seems as though all of the training and corrective behaviour has actually worked... no more looking like a victim of domestic abuse, loving lays on the lap, no more spearation anxiety - he's actually being a sheer and utter joy ! So what comes next..... Something has to happen that will burst this nice loving comfortable bubble we have found ourselves in ! Any ideas ????? |

Pessimist!!
Why not just enjoy it while it lasts? But if you really want to wonder what's next, Tiggy decided to have a relapse in her toilet training at about 15 months old. I came out to puddles in the morning. Had to go right back to basics, no idea why it happened. The vet checked and she was completely healthy. |
Oh trust me - I'm so trying not to be a pessimist... but.... he's just a little toooooo perfect ! Thanks for the heads up of the toilet training.... You just never ever know ! He's so full of surprises - and yeah a little too well behaved at the moment ! |
You are about to experience 'the terrible twos'... you will wonder what happened to your angel..it's all perfectly normal so don't worry |
You know I really don't want him to change at all.... He is just so beautiful as he's lying asleep on my lap as I type.... But reality bites.... Calm before the obligatory storm methinks ! I so love this though.... It will be so much more of a challenge when the next stage occurs... At least I have this to harken back to and wish for ! heheheheheheheh |
I think a lot of it depends on the relationship you form with him.
Apart from getting a tad loud and demanding (play with me now!) at times my boy is a great well balanced clown |
I would just be happy with how well behaved he is being. I can't wait till Asterisk gets all this puppy out of her! |
He will continue to be a loving joy in your life. My sweet Sammy girl never gave us any grief her whole life. She was always obedient, loving and devoted. Once she had to hold her pee for over ten hours because we were in an emergency. She never had an accident in the house. Her legs were crossed though.
Enjoy him! |
Actually, this might be it.
My issues with Harry have to do with training for performance. Otherwise he is really a good boy and pretty much has been since he was a few months past one year old. Every once in a while he has a separation anxiety issue and then he rips something up. I can usually trace it back to a "change" in our departure routine. So enjoy your new and improved boy. It sounds like he is a good dog. |
Aww the calm before the storm. Good luck!!!! |
WTF who knows what they will do next. That is what makes them so special. We have been owned by a sheepie for 20 years and still get surprized daily with what comes next |
Walter had a "second adolescence" around a year and a half. It was less of naughty puppy stuff and more stubborn teenager... brace yourself! |
You know, he's still really really good... Although I am seeing a little stubborn streak coming out in him. He's starting to refuse to go out in the morning and me vs a 42kg stubborn puppy is just a no win situation. Still, I'm getting him out there with abject kindness and no rousing..... yet ! But I'm making hay while the sun shines - he's just so beautiful !! |
While my girl just grew into a lovely young dog at home, my boy went through the second puppy-hood at between 15 and 18 months. It wasn't so pretty as he was almost a hundred pounds. |
You will have years and years and years of pure joy with the occasional mishap. these fun-loving dogs only want to please. Patch has been the center of my life and yours will be the center of your life. Enjoy your wonderful sheepie. |
