I have been taking Paislee to conformation classes every week; but she is still scared when a "judge" comes over to examine her. Another participant in the class suggested I try this Essentail oil. I am hesitant - I am not looking for a quick fix and will continue to take her to classes - but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experience with it. |

Sorry, Stephanie, no experience with this.
Here is what I would do: take a break from conformation and sign up for a fun puppy oriented agility class, because this is something that builds confidence. and then return to conf, training in a few months. Puppies go through a stage where they're very impressionable and at that point you back off and ask less of them until their brains catch up with the available space in their growing heads Just get her out to do lots of fun things before you add that kind of pressure on her. Especially since she's you're first show dog, so you're both learning this together, and you're (probably) all stressed about getting your part right and it goes right down the lead and can sort of take the fun out of things. I mean, if the oil works, great! But breeders usually just recognize baby brain freeze time and "put them away"(that doesn't mean not get them out, it just means don't put any real stress on them) till they mature a little and snap out of it. It's kind of a critical time, and if you push too hard it can come back to bite you. There's no rush. Showing doesn't really start up again till next year anyway, and she's such a baby. She'll be wonderful in time for the specialties next year. Kristine |
