Does this happen to you?

So Asterisk is on her antibiotic for a few more days for her UTI. Yesterday, Josh asked me to pick up dinner since I was working late. I said, sure, no problem, could he give Asterisk her evening dose of medication? He said he would.

I come home and he said "I don't know how you fit that pill in a chunk of cheese!" I really didn't think much more on that other than it was a pretty odd thing to say. Her pill is pretty small and fits easily in the cheese.

So this morning, I wake up and get ready to give her the antibiotic. The blister pack didn't look like he gave the med. I call over to him "did you give her the medication last night?" Yes, he did.

I put the pill in a chunk of cheese and give it to her, while Wendel gets a chunk of cheese too. I go to the cabinet I keep the animals medication at and I found out what medication he gave. He gave her the heartworm pill.

I said "didn't you pay attention to the pill I showed you last week when I got her medication?" Of course he had forgotten and told me that I should have told him there was more than one pill in there.

I feel guilty now that I was upset with him this morning... at least he gave her a pill...

I suppose I shouldn't be terribly upset, this is the guy who forgets to pick up his socks.

why should that be acceptable? My husband is exactly the same way - I thik he does it to get out of having to do it again
Hey- I forget to pick up my socks too! BUT.. I make sure I get instructions at least 3 times so I know what to do with important stuff
So I'm doomed. :(
I asked Todd to give Harley his antibiotic pill this morning......and I'm at work until 7pm. I did set the pill bottle out, prominently visible on the counter. :crossed:
My husband means well too...but we have had some "miscommunications" as well when it comes to the sheepdogs. So now if I have to be out of town and the sheepdog(s) are with him, I make notes and put them all over the house -----pre-package the dogs meals - ---prepare daily medication - - -you name it. I know he feels a little like a kid ----- but he understands my craziness about the care of the dogs and goes with it. Good luck! :D
I'm fortunate, mine trys to give the right pill but is so nervous, the dog gets nervous and the pill comes flying out or left behind in the bowl.

He's very good about remembering Heartgard so I can't complain.
My vet gives us medication in the white medication envelopes.
On the back side of the envelope, I write down each time it should be given:
M - AM
M - PM
T - AM and so on. When a dose is given, we mark it off. It has kept us from forgetting a dose or trying to double dose them.

And I am the only one who give the heartworm medication. Same for the topical flea meds.

Your doomed!

This all sounds like my place.
I usually take James's keys and put the pill bottles on top of them so he has remember to do it before he takes off anywhere. He's pretty good about remembering a verbal direction of when to give one pill but anything more requires a note.
oh honey! It happens to me almost every day.... I love my husband and wouldn't trade him for the world.... but follow directions???? well, you know. I am convinced that he does it on purpose, so I don't ask him to do stuff...
It's tough being in the minority here.

Does it help that Todd DID give Harley his pill the last 2 mornings?? :D

LOL
This is obviously a completely female thread but I can't resist. If I could play dumb and incompetent I surely would let my wife handle all of the dog duties.

Unfortunately, It is I who:

Gives the dogs pills 90% of the time.

Express anal glands.

Pick up the poop.

As for shaving, it's a joint thing. We bought a pair of two-speed A-5's and both go at it. It makes for quick work and the dogs don't know what hit them. The only problem is when I decide to lift a rear leg and my wife picks up a foreleg and my poor guys find themselves suddenly standing on two legs.
