huge heads of broccoli for $2 got 12 freezer packs plus the stems for soups and stews. 5 kinds of winter squash. all less than a $1 carrots for us and the furkids .50 eggplant 2/$1.00 I used my pressure cooker on steam to prepare, and my foodsaver to pack. nothing will ever touch water again because all can be micro or boiled in the pack. also got a large basket of roma tomatoes to can $6.00 hope to get more next week. I will be packing up pouches of onion,celery and carrots for soups and stews. Also zuccini. Already to go and no prep work later. We have found that we are not buying red meat but a ton of veggies. and loving it. Just chicken and fish. also got 30 lbs of chicken legs with that some had backs on. prep those too. 49 cents per lb. Large amount of broth put in freezer. One more weekend and I think I will be ready for winter cooking. I too am looking for ideas for eggplant. not to many out there. ( that we like) OH also put up cabbage too. what a weekend!!!!!!!! |

I went to Greese Town on Sat. and the market in Brockoport on Sunday. I am going next weekend too. WANT TO COME!!!!! I am looking for fresh brown eggs. |

When I go to my Moms in VA, on the way home I always
go the back way to hit the markets..... They have everything...one entire mountain is back to back markets of some sorts! (and of course flags for race fans!! ) |
