herding instinct.....sounds like a candidate for herding trials! It does slow down with time, but you may have to take drastic actions.....doggie seat belt or even a wire crate to contain this missle in the car.
MO was my missle.......finally broke it by putting her and 5 other dogs in the same van......no room to move and she eventually forgot about herding the cars down the highway. |
Our Clare has done this since Will died at age 10. Clare is 3. Our solution was a small squirt bottle with 2 people in the front seat and as a car or bike was seen tp be coming say no and give her a squirt when it got to her. It works |
Our 3 year old Molly does this, and has done this since we rescued her at age 1. We go on 2+ hour drives every weekend, and she LOVES to go in the car.
The only "non-human intervention" solution we've found is to use a doggy seat belt attached to a floor anchor, so she can't see out the windows. She still barks, occasionally, but it's 99% less than when she had access to the windows and would carry on any time a truck or motorcycle went by. |
Our dogs that do this are crated with a cloth over the crate - they feel more secure and do not stress out. |
