My dog can't hold his pee overnight. He is 18 months, and drips under himself while sleeping. He smells like a urine, after each night even though he won't drink water, and will go outside right before bed. He does not seem sick, but a urine infection is possible. I called the vet, but they won't let me just drop his urine to test. He was just at the vet, and can't afford another visit. Do you have any experience or advice with this problem? Best, Mag |

He has to go in for a check up to rule out other issues. However, if he was just there I would expect my vet to do the lab test first to rule out a UTI. Actually I changed vets over a similar issue - my girl had an UTI - I KNEW she did. Our regular vet wouldn't see her without a sample. The new vet in town said get a sample if you can - other wise bring her in. I did manage a sample and have happily been with the newer vet for over a year now. They do have to be willing to work with you on some things. |
