Toddlers and Tiaras

I cannot look away from this show even though it is a parental train wreck.

You can tell that most of the kids featured do NOT like it but are being shoved into it by their parents. And of course, none of the parents realize that they are not being portrayed in a flattering light.

I am just curious if anyone else out there is guilty of watching this show too.

havent caught THAT one yet!!! Sounds very interesting!!!!!
I have caught it, but don't watch it. I feel so terrible for the kids ...having to work so hard all the time when they don't want to. The times they do, and enjoy it, I'm all for it, but having to perform with a fever is just terrible. Then there are those who go to the extreme with fake teeth, etc. ...just uncalled for imo.
The worst I saw was a mom who had fraternal twin daughters and favored the "pretty one" that "looked just like" the mom. It was horrible.

The other twin was adorable and ended up beating her sister.
I think it's kind of sick actually.

So do I but I can't look away from it. I guess I am just amazed what these parents will do.

They parade babies that are just a few weeks old out there.
What network is this on?
What network is this on? (Sorry, thought the first post didn't go thru, but of course it did! )
TLC (The Learning Channel) Wednesday evenings at 9:00 Central time

I really do think that these mostly mothers do not realize how badly they are behaving.
I will admit that I entered my oldest, Joey in exactly 1 pageant when she was about 4 years old.

She had just started dancing school and the teacher suggested a few of us try it.

...Little Miss Sunshine....
My aunt made her outfits, a cute little dress ((I was the slip queen and the girls would walk around with their dresses out to THERE from all the horsehair slips!!!!)) and for her sport outfit...Aunt Ro made her this really cute sailor one piece red pant outfit...I bought her a sailor hat, put her long hair in piggy tails and she had a mop the she rested on her shoulder.... and we practiced the walk and she placed 3rd in her group...WE gave her flowers and she was happy!!!!

The experience was something surreal..Most of the girls had BIG hair...much makeup...and their clothes.....Hand sewn seed pearls on dresses, hair bows and SHOES!!!! Imported frabrics..matching EVERYTHING~~~And the Sports outfits...handmade tennis thingy's..icekating outfits with sequince galore!!! OMG!!!! very silly!!!

Joey and I sat in a corner before the 'show'....Dino was working..always working... We just watched all the pro's ...make up first ((we didn't bring any))..then hair..(I had curled Joey's hair before we left!!! and it was losing the curl... )...then outfit..((we just came in with her dress on))...then the tantrums from the kids...   ...I remember Joey just staring at them in disbelief..those little girls were so unfriendly to my 'baby' ..

Anyway, as Joey was watching her peers, I was watching mine...Mothers, keeping the child's outfits in strong opaque garment bags...always looking over their shoulders to see who was looking at them.. So much secrecy!!! There were stories of mothers stealing other kids clothes so they couldn't go on...Kids running wild and getting in real trouble...ohmy!!!

First and last pageant...We didn't really have the time for such nonsense...certainly didn't have the money....and, after the experience...definately didn't have the desire...I knew my baby was cute...but..more important...she was sweet and kind... :D :D
Now when I watch the program I'm going to imagine you dancing around behind the judges to "help" your daughter remember the moves.

Okay, I know you are not like that but a certain child of yours has worn her share of tiaras...... and tutus.

I guess if TLC creates Sheepies and Tiaras you would be all over that.
I can't even stomach the commercials for this show.

No, have never watched....will never watch....sad that TLC went down at least three notches for even airing it. ew, gross, patooey, yuck, gag. Repulsive.
To be clear....I was NEVER one of those moms...with my kids...but...

my pupperkids ARE a different story!!!!! IF they had a sheepies and tiaras...no one else would need to enter....a waste of everyone elses time..... :P :P :P 8O 8O 8)
I don't watch it-- but I think it is as bad as Jon and Kate Plus 8, which I will admit to watching.... I don't watch now, because I think the parents are nuts, just like the Mom's on this show.

I know how it can become addicting :?

Like a train wreck you can't look away from.
I love it. I even DVR it. It's fantastic TV. Sometimes I feel like a pageant mom at dog shows.
