Owen is a champion!

Owen became a champion today at the Western Reserve Kennel Club show in Chagrin Falls so he is now Ch Ken-Bear's Master of his Owen Domain! (Owen insists on being addressed only as Champion Owen around the house.)

I'm so thankful to my breeders for all their help and encouragement-- I can't tell you how great it is to have mentors like them! Today we were lucky to have Beth Ginther with Strut and Lori and Rick Douglas with Jazz there to see us finish and cheer us on. (Strut got a major yesterday and Jazzy finished last week so everyone's having a good week!) Thanks to Beth for helping me get Owen ready for pictures, too. This sounds like an acceptance speech, lol!

Anyway, I'm so happy for my little champion and just wanted to share. I'll post the pics as soon as I get them. I could take one now but I let him run around in the mud as a reward. ;)

Little Champion? I wouldn't quite describe him that way! :lol: Wish I'd have been able to be there to see you 2 finish. On 2nd thought..maybe it's good I wasn't. :lol: I've had other owners of our dogs tell Cathy & me that we embarass them by getting so excited at times. :lol: In all seriousness, a very hearty congratulations to you both and it is very well earned. It's not just good breeders & mentors that help a dog become a champion. It is the owner/handler too who takes the time & has the interest & patience to learn the ropes. In another words................it's a team effort. Thanks for being such a good member of our team, Jill. :D

Congratulations, CHAMPION OWEN! And Jill, too! You both looked really great out there today, and I was happy that I got to be there when you finished!

I really enjoyed meeting Lorrie and Rick also...and thanks again for leaving Jazz in as a class dog to help us hold the major! Jill's right, it was a fun weekend!

Jill CONGRATULATIONS again :D :D We were so glad to be there when you finished, I think I also was part of the the team, I was the OFFICIAL BRUSH HOLDER :lol: :lol: and CONGRATULATIONS also to Beth, it was a pleasure meeting you :D I am hoping we will meet up real soon and be able to spend some time together after the shows. Give Owen and Strut kisses and hugs from us, I could just squeeze them both, I think I did that already today :wink:

I'm just online this morning and getting caught up!!!
How nice to have a cheering section. :D :D I had one with Chewie, and it was great! Infact we apparently were REAL loud. I ran into some of the basset folks this weekend at the basset rescue event who show. They had a big specialty too the same day we finished, but in a ring across the grassy area. They were apologizing for not stopping over, but were trying to watch across the way, but couldn't see us. I made the comment about how we had a cheering section and I'm surprised they didn't hear us....well, they did!!! :oops: :oops: They remembered a lot of screams and whooping....just didn't know it was for us. :oops:
