Yep, us too - twice. Hate to burst your bubble, but if anything, you'll be hemorrhaaging MORE money, in places you never had to throw money at before! We have many great memories of the kids' college days, though. Enjoy them, because they go by WAY too fast. |

Sorry. |
My daughter has been away at college a week now. She came home for the weekend and will be coming home for the next couple of weekends at least until she gets tired of running back and forth. We really enjoyed her visit. The tears are gone for now, but my wallet opened up again over the weekend getting her some odds and ends. Looks like you are all right, we are not done hemoraging money... |
During her freshman year, my daughter only came home in the Fall for the Red River Shootout, two away game weekends and Thanksgiving. Though I missed her, it was best for her. She made some very close firends by being at school on the weekends. One of the suitemates went home every weekend in the Fall to see her boyfriend - when they broke up, it took awhile for her become included in the group - they didn't have any common experiences.
Now in her final year of grad school, those are still her closest friends. They get together a couple of times a month and talk all of the time. We can't wait for May. We just had to replace her car - she takes over the payment in June. With the money we will save on the out-of-state tuition next year, we plan to give the kids money for downpayments on their homes. Woot! |
It is SO hard to let them go.... but as for money, they seem to just keep getting more expensive! |

Don't they just? Right now (and I am treading lightly when I say this) both of mine are almost totally self supporting, which is a good thing because I am spending a fortune on the dogs |
did she go north or south??? trust me...they always come back...with dirty laundry, empty stomachs and cashless.....lol....
the experience will be wonderful for her... xo! |
Looks like my Daughter is not quite ready to leave the nest. She has decided to transfer her job back up here so she will be coming home on Thursday pm and going back to school Sunday pm. She hates the new store and her Father and I want her to be happy. Luckly its only 1 1/2 hour drive each way and she has a new car. Looks like we won't be spending much more alone time (DAd & I) as we thought. But I do love having her home. On another note, Son is turning 18 this Friday. His job is going extremely well. |
