My little angel

Phoebe and I volunteer with a hospice group and visit an assigned patient at a nursing home. We also visit anyone who want to see her. Over the last year we've visited with one man many times. In the last few months, he's really declined. Last night we met his family in the hallway. They were gathering since they don't expect to have him much longer. His wife wanted me to bring Phoebe into the room. She was such a very good girl. She nuzzled each family member and let herself be petted. At the wife's request, I lifted Phoebe's front paws up on the bed so the man could see her. He said, "Hi, Baby". The wife said that he hadn't been able to talk hardly at all.
The family was so appreciate that Phoebe had come and thought that she was wonderful.
Back at home, she reverted into Snarlotta mode, hoarding all the toys and snarling at Winston if he came near. :?

A wonderful story. And a reminder to appreciate our guys for what they are, not what we wish they were. We really ask an awful lot of this species that is by nature very xenophobic. Phoebe sounds wonderful.

Thanks for sharing.
Oh golly gosh that has made me go all teary. What a special little girl I am sure she brought comfort to the man and his family.
ok so ya made me cry she sounds like a wonderful dog with a big heart and the compassion of an angel! I am sure she was a great comfort for the man and his family. :ghug:

Me too. I am crying. What a great girl you have to give that man something to look forward to.
BLESS YOU BOTH.
Thank you, Phoebe.

(You too, Nancy ;) )

I hope someday, should we be in unfortunate circumstances, someone will bring a dog to visit with Joan or me.

What a wonderful story! We have a Snarlotta too. She is perfect while visiting the elderly then turns into a snappy, toy collecting, sniper at home with Buff and Margie.

Phoebe has given me hope that Ellie can continue to use her powers for good, and we can ignore a little of the evil at home.
Lovely story!!! :aww:
I'm with you Ron, I sometimes think about not having a dog and hope someone will bring their dog for visits with me.
Beautiful gesture. Way to go Phoebe! :hearts:
How did you manage to keep your composure? I think I would have been in pieces. Well done both of you :ghug:
Good girl!

Therapy work with the dogs is so rewarding - for everyone involved. :hearts:
