Whoops I just started a different thread about this.
I feel for you! We were stressing out because Vick came here yesterday to do a talk on dogfighting and we thought he was secretly meeting with the Bears. There's no way I could root for a team with him on it. |
I literally screamed when I read Baileesdad's post, being a life-long resident of PA and just as long an Eagles fan. Dale is traveling and I called to tell him, only got his VM. He's gonna explode. Just called Spencer in VA, and he said he felt like someone just hit him in the gut. Said he'll be a Redskins fan now.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?????????????? |
The NFL cares more about players who abuse the league substance abuse policy than they do about those who commit felonies. Aside from the fact that he willfully took part in torturing these animals for sport, he was convicted in a federal court of interstate trafficking, a RICO violation. That alone should have been enough of a deterrent to reinstatement by the league commissioner - If he had been betting on football games his butt would be out of the league permanently.
26 teams showed interest in this scumbag when he was released from prison, one of them my own Buffalo Bills. It's sickening that this diva with a severe personality disorder could be forgiven his crimes and welcomed back into the league because he's 'got game'. I've loved football all my life but this is unforgiveable. Sorry you got stuck with him, Eagles fans. Maybe Donovan McNab will take care of him for you - I'm sure he's not happy about it either. |

Not true. McNabb is all over Philly news saying "I'm a dog lover, but Vick deserves another chance". Reid is saying crap like "This is America, everyone deserves a second chance." |
While I don't like what he did he has done time and paid for his actions. Is he just supposed to be a drain on society now and not work? Just saying. |
He shouldn't be rewarded by being held in some high regard and a possible role model for kids. I personally think he should still be in jail. Animal cruelty laws are not tough enough, and this was such an extreme case. Not to mention that he had the $$$ to hire every bulldozer lawyer out there to get him a soft sentence. Sucks all the way around.
At the very least he should be picking up dog poop for the rest of his life. ~Verve |
Signing and making the team are different. We can hope he's too old now to make the cut. Then we could also hope some dog comes up and bites him. |
Just an update on the reaction of how this is going over back here in the Philly area. Talk Show reaction has been overwhelmingly negative. As far as McNabb goes, he is on record in favor of the deal and has spoken out in favor of forgiving Vick for what he has done. With regard to Andy Reid, with all he has gone through with the drug issues of 2 of his sons, and I am sure his Morman principles also influence his stand, he says "everyone deserves a second chance." This is certainly something that will polarize many of the fans here in Eagleland. One of the Talk Show callers hopes that the team owner (Jeff Laurie) and G. M. (Joe Banner) both "get bit in the ass by a big dog" in their travels. Karma at it's best! |

Well, the HSUS supports the man and has him working on campaigns for them <barf> Then again, they've killed a lot more pitbulls than he ever has - all of his would be dead if they'd had their way - though none of them ever served time for it, so maybe they feel a certain kinship. Kristine |
i gre up in pa with my eagles no more |
