Great news!! You'll have a wonderful time.
In 30 years mine have visited just once. Hope you have better odds than I. |
have a nice family visit.
It's nice they are taking the extra time to drive out your way. When I realized I was the only one making the effort to visit with one of my sisters, that was the end of our close (I thought) sister relationship. Me in MN and her in KS is a fairly long haul. Then I found out she and her family were coming to visit others in MN and not calling, stopping, etc. Sad to let families drift apart - keeping in touch is important. |
Ditto: brother & spouse go to Santa Fe every Nov. Never call to say, "let's meet for coffee." Only 70 miles up road vs. us having to get dog sitter and driving 470 to visit him. Any wonder I/we haven't been to Denver for years.
Why do others think the road only goes one way?? |
Yes, it can be tough when siblings and family members live a long distance. I am one of ten children. My parents and 7 of my sibs live in Michigan (all over the state) and I have a sister that lives in NC. With such a large family, we try to at least go to my parents at Christmas.
I never expect my sibs to come and visit, most are married and have families, so it can be pretty expensive to visit and miss work. |
Most of our family lives 200 miles north of us, with just a few of us spread across the country. My inlaws live just blocks from my mother, one sil ives a block from our old house.
We go up there for the Holidays, which is stressful when you spend the whole time trying to see everybody and not offend anyone. I finally gave up on te pleasing part. My borther comes down here for business and rarely calls. But he is getting us tickets to the first football game at Jerry's world, so I will forgive him. |
