I feel just terrible! (My cat)

I can't believe this! After all my hard work too keep his fur nice and neat! The last few weeks I decided to go easy on Halifax - he has been such a good boy so if he decided he didn't want me to brush his belly too much I would let him go do his thing. Stupid! Stupid!

I flipped him over (OMG!) He had this huge mat (the size of a silver dollar)! I felt sooo horrible! It was so close to his skin that I was worried that I might have to get him shaved! 8O I held him while Brad got a comb and scissors (there was just enough room to put the teeth of the comb between his skin and the mat. It took us half an hour to cut it out (because the scissors sucked and because he squirmed). He was irritated - but we brushed him down anyway. It's getting warmer so he is losing all his hair - everytime he loses his coat he mats like crazy (and I just had to pick this time to slack off on my duties!)

I'm not doing that ever again! He is going to get brushed whether he likes it it not!

Integra- poor Halifax. It's always a bummer to think you're safe from a little grooming time off only to find out that you picked the worst time to relax. It's alittle hard to tell from your banner- is Halifax a persian- looks like you have an angora and a persian? Both breeds are known for their matting gur- I got off lucky with mygirls- Bell is a british shorthair, so shes no issue whatsoever. Iris is a Birman, and she only matts a little on her neck- which are very easy to pick out and remove. She wouldn't even matt there- except that Miss Bell thinks it is a good idea to grab her there when they play! So one minute she's brushed lovely, and the next Bell has her neck in a big ole tangle again! So matts happen to every one- don't be too upset with yourself!

By the way I love love love love your current avatar- which anime character is that? My hubby and I are anime freaks, but I don't recognize that character?

He is a Himalayan - cream point (or flame point). Ever since I put him on this food his hair has been sooo silky smooth and tangle free! I thought he would be ok - then BAM shedding season! I got this new dematter that a groomer recomended (it doesn't cut the skin and it doesn't pull their fur). I picked it up today.

The woman on my avatar is Sir Intergral Windgates Hellsing (I hope I spelled her whole name correctly), although the characters on the show love calling her Intergra.

You can get the story in both Manga and Anime form (there are 13 episodes in the anime so the box-set is pretty cheap) and I believe they are up to five mangas right now.

The story-line for the anime pretty much revolves around Intergra, the leader of the Hellsing foundation, and Alucard (Dracula) who has become her servant and helps her destroy vampires across England who go on mad killing sprees.

In the Mangas they are trying to put down a Neo-Nazi movement headed by a leader who also has an vampire on their side.

The anime is pretty gorey as is the manga, and I'm not normally into those kinds of things, but I really do like this one. I know my explanation is not doing it justice! =P But the art work and animation are great!

It's called Hellsing if you want to give it a look-see.
Ahhh- I've seen that sitting on the shelf, but never knew if it was worth checking out or not! Sounds interesting! I wish we had better anime rental places in our area- our local video stores don't carry very much in the way of anime, and we try to limit our purchases to one series at a time (right now we're on "Inu Yasha").

Is your other kitty a himalayan also? The color is beautiful- is it a smoke?

Karen :)

Yeah - Kiley is a Himmie too - he is a seal point. I need to get an updated photo of him so you can see how much he has changed! His body used to be pretty much the same color, grey, then he got really dark... then all his body hair fell out and turned creamy. He is so weird.
I love the fact that your himmies have the traditional doll face, not the squished in persian faces. I used to raise them, and stopped because the standard was calling for such squished in faces that it was creating very serious health problems within the breed. It was too difficult to find breeding cats who had the doll faced look, and were therefore healthier, so I called it quits and got into rescue instead. Same thing with Siamese, I raised the "classic" look, not apple heads, but not extreme wedge heads either. I love the look of a sleek, muscular, healthy siamese, with those big fruit bat ears, but not the emaciated sickly things that were in the show ring for many years before the standard finally mellowed a bit again.

That's why I got them hehe. To me they are a whole lot cuter - but are definitly less expesive. I was also worried about the smooshed faces - so we got our little ones. Hali cries a little when he eats - but not too much thank goodness.
